Stores are closing and some are even merging. Maybe not all or many. A close friend of mines was recently given the news with severance options.
Stores won't be closed, they'll be re-badged. No deal for you - just a new master.

The people that make the decisions to remodel stores, are not the same people who make the cutting decisions. Santa Monica destination store JUST closed it doors. They were open for maybe three years, and Im sure most would be sick hearing the cost it was to make that location.
In an online world this makes a lot of business sense and is an inevitable.
Wireless retail is on its way out. Moreover, as it exists today, it is just the newest version of "used car salesman"!
I know for a fact indirect is taking stores from corporate. Store location and employees. Just because you haven’t seen it around you does not mean it’s not happening. Also, just because your store is recently remodeled or you do a lot of contracts, HUM, new lines etc. means nothing. They way they incentivize everything for Indirect means any store is capable of converting. They are looking at footprint. Think Apple stores. You can buy Apple hardware almost anywhere but you may have to drive several hours to get to an Apple store.

They may just be getting the store ready to hand off. They dumped some 15 million into our building then at the end of construction they sold it and the jobs were moved or eliminated.
My store is safe. Broke ground on the next gen remodel last night. Not going to dump half a mil on remodel then close us. However there are 2 b stores (do we even officially use that term anymore?) Within 15 miles that may get shut down.
