I'm sure they will want to bring in foreign executives who will cut cut cut while the USA executives would resist. Why would they want to interview executives who have been running the same old business for so many years. Of course, they know how the business works and they have built strong customer relations for so many years. The strategy is to remove the old USA executives and move in the young foreign exec's who will do as commanded.

Verizon appears to be offering buyouts in one big push while AT&T appears to prefer a more piecemeal ageism approach, that has so far not included buyouts. Either way, the result is likely to be the same: more employees will lose their jobs as the companies start stacking up their cash for the investments that will be needed over the next several years to upgrade to 5G networks, welcome to the swamp called AT&T
