Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

New Markets? 6 to 3?

Hearing a lot of talk about moving from 6 markets to 3 (East, Central and West). Apparently Directors have been briefed and we are expected to get the news before October is completed to give employees who work in the closed markets time to consider the voluntary severance plan. Hearing Schaumburg, Denver and possibly Bedminster would be closed.

What are you hearing?

I've heard variations of this as well but it seems to be almost entirely speculation. A lot of it comes from Dallas employees who are convinced their campus is going to absorb others. At this point, it's becoming clear that divisional lines will change, wireless and wireline will blend in some way, the Bloomberg article even mentioned this. That'll probably have more impact on locations than any geography change.

Yeah I've heard 4, not 3, but this definitely has legs.

Have seen other items referring to re-org that align with the old area structure geographically. There are so many rumors and gossip about it that they are all likely containing some grain of truth.

This only makes sense which leads me to believe that VZ wont be smart enough to consolidate.
