Nothing to do with this at all in any manner whatsoever but, I once had a “friend” who had a job where she drove to a building, sat in a room for 7 or so hours, and then drove home.
I’m just kidding.
That couldn’t be reality, right, while so many people are out there each and every day breaking their backs to make a go of this, there’s simply no way at all such an individual could slip through the cracks.
Cushy unnecessary VZ jobs include HR, VLSS, and all the 100 plus unnecessary health club staff who provide zero benefit to the staff across the country. All are expendable.
Any cushiness went out the door in 2000 when VZ took over. CO techs used to have the life but even they work hard nowadays. There aren't kush jobs anymore, except maybe C&X and they're usually the union goons helping each other out.

@alj, as a union associate who has worked his a-- off in trying situations that are now too many to count, in all sorts of horrible weather events through many tough days and nights, welcome to our world, where ignoramuses continually take unfounded potshots at us unrelentingly, criticisms that have zero basis in reality, but that those who cast stones have been brainwashed to believe. My take on this post, Verizon is taking a lot of heat in the press about outsourcing jobs to India so they decide to give the illusion through post like this that the American Verizon employees are lazy and don't work. I have decades of experience in the IT space but relatively new to Verizon, I can tell you first hand that I've never seen a harder working group people.
I have worked remotely for the past 10 years, and have had 8 supervisors in that time. Four of them, I never met face-to-face, not even once.
One, an affirmative action hire, forgot that I worked for him. 8 months, not a single task, not a single assignment. I spent forty hours a week running errands, reading, web surfing. I sent him a weekly email asking for a conference call, and he never got around to scheduling time to discuss work with me.
Another gave me a general idea of what to work on, then never spoke to me again. I won't say what the project was, because conceivably a manager could identify me from the official terms. I'll just say this: 4p, 4a, 3a. (If you're an associate in wireline, you could figure this out, if you know vbuild). I waded in, and recovered about 17 million $ for good old Verizon. Here's the kicker, this hands-off guy gave me total leeway to work whatever hours I wanted. My kids were grown and I had debts, so I worked 60 hour weeks - and got all that sweet overtime. Top craft, union associate, got into double time every week. Made $40,000 extra that year. Great deal for me and great deal for the company.
