@1oyr no, that was made clear. Your management doesn't find out until Dec right before decisions are made on whether you are going or not. The info goes to your ED or VP and then it will go down to Dir or Sr. Mgr level as they have to decide how critical employee is after getting notified how many employees want to take it. The idea is not to cripple the org.

I don't think so. I don't think they will get as many people as they hoped for. I also see no point in answering on 10/1, I will wait until November whatever my answer is. As far as accepting & pulling it back, you can do that but I don't think they will even look at it until Nov. 10th. What would be the point as long as people can change their mind. I think they will look on the 10th to get a feel of what will happen but only November 17th matters so why would they really look at it before then.
I’m curious how the volunteers will be reported to their management...will an email be generated to my management as soon as I volunteer, similar to when we apply for internal VZ job postings? Or will they get a weekly report. Or will it all remain confidential until some later date? Anyone heard anything about this?
Besides, is there any advantage in accepting the buyout on Oct.1? This is not first-come, first-served. May as well wait 5 weeks and not tip your hand until the deadline.
Or if you're feeling mischievous, accept it on 10/01, pull it back on 10/02, accept it again on 10/03, pull it back on 10/04, etc. Just to keep 'em guessing :)
Nah, weren’t we all on it last Monday checking our numbers and it didn’t crash?
