@VnKVbup-5yne I’m a Orignial Directv Tech and I can just imagine a original prem tech finally doing a Directv job because every time I see one of y’all you guys always talk about how you hate doing it and y’all only do like 4 installs a month. I know what your job is about. Easy stuff. Climb poles, run drop and wrap a cat5 line and install modem. I worked for the cable company and it’s the same thing. Climbing poles isn’t much y'all just make it seem like it is. I see more MST’s doing your job like climbing the pole and actual checking the line than y’all do. Pull a full route 5 to 6 days a week and then maybe you can put some input on Directv jobs. MST’s have been putting in the work for many years and y’all have the nerve to complain and post dumb stuff while y’all make 29.50 a hour. Us DTV guys don’t make that.

A lot of mst were service techs we installed 1 to 20 Jack's at a time in a house or business wrapping and or crawling a house installing a dish or a couple of boxes would be easy

I doubt any inr techs will be expected to do dtv. At my garage they don’t even have all the prem techs doing dtv and the techs who are doing it are leaving one by one and they still don’t have anyone new doing it just falls on the same group of guys who have been doing it.

PT title was always a disposable position. The T could care less about you or any other Employee!

The perfect solution the network techs will have a tech assistant to do their job, they are old, sick, and not very brignt, lol

Yeah that merge would be hilarious. I can just imagine MSTs doing a 5 box DirecTV. They'll be so confused when there's no time to sit in their truck for 4 hours doing nothing.

Yes, the thought at this time is that IEFS and TFS will merge. The prem techs will be placed on the 6 month progression plan until they reach top pay. The thought is senior TFS technicians will choose to retire rather than install uverse and dtv products.

I mean it makes sense, but they are going to have to do a whole lot of training to get to 1 tech 1 ticket. I’ve met inr techs who are good at what they do, but thought we still put all uverse stb on coax and plenty of prem techs who have never even attempted to remove a bridged tap. If they merge us and give us the typical AT&T here you go figure it out training it’s going to be a rough start.

@2zck: I’m not part of the decision making process on this but I’ve heard it from reputable sources. The person I spoke with said it’s all but certain this will happen although that was prior to Jenifer and Jeff taking over so it could change or they could follow the same plans. There’s one thing for certain and that is the company continues down the road of one ticket one tech. Look at what’s happening in dispatch and in the field. Cross training without calling it that. You have work share and you have Prem Techs doing dash-o type work without the ticket.

VnKVbup-2vwv This sounds like a legit piece of info. Are you thinking logically or do you have some inside knowledge? This, if it happens, would be the biggest reorg I’ve seen in over 40 years. (Not counting the breakup of ‘84)

Ifn a prem tech would just finish his job instead of haftn to call to get other fellas to hep him, maybe theyd keep em around awhile, reckn.

@2gab: very similar to when they did SD&A and NIBS/BSIM except now it’s going to be a full merge together likely including construction and special services. They’d come up with an entirely new name obviously but former IEFS and TFS techs would have the same management chain above first level or they could have Prem and Core on the same teams. The details haven’t all been worked out but the decision has been made to merge the groups.

how can they merge IEFS and TFS ? what about appendix J ? i know they are not going to move prem tech core, and they can't move core down right ? so how is it possible ? they are certainly not going to give prem tech core pay. i would love to see core techs have to do DTV though LOL

@ppa: Company is eliminating Prem Tech positions and will allow Core techs to do installs. It already started with internet/phone only bonded pair. That was the trial. Now they’ll do TV.

Huge prem tech surpluss before IEFS and TFS merge. I’m hearing it will be right at Christmas time. Ruthless.

I also heard contractors are going to be taking over prem work inside the home.

Eat up this OT and save your money prem techs.
