Make no mistake. This Voluntary Separation Email was sent company wide but only a select few qualify. I know many people with 15 years or more that don't qualify for this "voluntary" separation. Nothing voluntary about this.

You are your own fake news. Chortle.
I get moved somewhere by Verizon am paid higher than the area and can’t possibly afford to move back or most places. Thankful I didn’t buy too much house or anything but taking the package and going outside means 30-60% cut unless I move then it won’t be much different because housing goes so far up
Everyone has a bad choice unless you can retire or have nearly no attachment and a really in demand skill.
@lve I agree, that is why it would be very good for them to be told, hey you got a great package but your out of luck. so we can stop thinking about it. Why tell everyone even the one they probably already know they cant go. Assuming they dont know until the business starts yelling NO!
I personally dont have a problem for them to say no, but it would be good before I have to decide and get all worked up with family and friends.
Oh well I look at it as if you dont take it and survive another year it's a wash. But if you take it and get a job soon after it's a windfall for some but as we know after a certain age not easy to find a job.
Those groups you mentioned won't even be eligible. The letter says customer facing and business critical all excluded as are groups within InfoSec and NetSec.
There is going to be allot of upset people when they apply and get rejected. Most likely if they accept you I would assume they really never needed that position anyway.
I wish they would send out an email or flow through management to say, dont bother you aren't going anywhere.
I just cant see them just haphazardly offing people. Especially the ones in the NOC's or any group that faces the customer which is a good chunk. Also allot of new products in the pipe line, so those wouldn't go anywhere.
I can certainly see maybe 1 or 2 from those groups.
The spreadsheet is in the links provided in the announcement- you just have to look.
There are over 44,000 people that were on that PDF that used to be a spreadsheet... Those of us that work with data regularly can easily put it back into spreadsheet form once again.
For 1. Anyone who goes to Infosys is not eligible.
Everyone I know, who is not going to INfosys is eligible.
Does not mean it will be accepted.
The only people that shafted those 1500 are themselves. The writing has been on the wall for IT forever, yet they all remained working for Verizon. Verizon is not responsible for you, you are responsible for you.
Appears Verizon leash dogs are spreading falsehood in these posts. Over 1500 employees got shafted by the company and offloaded to Infosys with no severance packages. The one year guarantee is just so they can get around the stigma of outsourcing jobs to an Indian company.
The spreadsheet is required by law to show they are not age discriminating. Typically it goes to over 40 but I think everyone got it. Looks like just about everyone is qualified for this separation. Whether they let you take it then gets determined.
Take the money
@cja ...Insults are the last resort of insecure, unintelligent people with a crumbling position trying to appear confident.
You're an id--t. This isn't targeted. The business is looking to offload employees en masse, ex:2003 buy out.
Targeting is more complicated and more likely to result in legal action. Dumb ***
"Laughably false"...nice way to deflect. Tell me something, why would someone's age matter in this voluntary program? Also where is this spread sheet you speak off? Must be only the "eligible" ones that got to see this spread sheet.
The spreadsheet had leaders, titles and ages. The fiction that only a select few qualify rings laughably false to anyone who clicked on the link.
So what's the criteria for who qualifies?
