If you VOLUNTEER and don't get picked , you can kiss your career aspirations at VZ good bye and you can bet the ranch you WILL be on the next RIF list...

My guess is that a lot of union will apply for the management positions, and outsource those union positions.
I was seriously considering volunteering, I have 20 years and have no delusions about VZ executives and whether they know or care that I exist. My loyalty is with team members and customers I have been working with over the last 10-20 years.
Then get a call by my Sr. Manager- he's volunteering, and so is another manager working for him. Wants to put me in charge of whatever is left.

Not if the future riff is after June 30, 2018. Then it's back to standard RIFF package.
If you can volunteer at all you're on the list for every one to follow.
There is no future with this company. Open up your eyes! It's nieve to think there is.
career aspirations, sorry i'm a white male I have no future at this company
What career aspirations? LOL. They use you and then dump you. You're just a head with $. Like the others said, "Difference is you still get the offer that was provided, rather than the shaft."
“Difference is you still get the offer that was provided, rather than the shaft.”
That is a short term deal though. If they rid you before the last people leave from the voluntary offer in June you get the offer. Get riffed July 1 and whatever the policy is then is what you get. They said what “typically” it is 2 weeks up to 35 donut I could be anything but won’t be 3/60
Um. Duh. It states as such in the email. If you dont get picked, you're on the list for a future one. Difference is you still get the offer that was provided, rather than the shaft.
Things those who saw this already knew.
