“Some” IT to Infosys

Some folks are jumping for joy and some not so much. 8am folks in IT were told of a rebadge. 830am some of those same IT were told they had been rebadged and others in IT were retained . 9am a package is offered and those left in IT get the package. Legal?

My bet is that the people moving to Infosys will have an Indian counterpart that they will be training to do their position and will be out of a job after that year.

That is the plan, just so you know, its the breakdown to see what can be outsourced offsite first and then what can be replaced with cheaper workforce. Infosys is all about making $$

Without a labor contract with binding rules you can do nothing and the company can do as it wishes. it is an unfortunate circumstance but is what it is.

This is absolutely legal. Save your money instead of giving it to high dollar attorneys to tell you that same thing. Also, those with the opportunity to take this package....do it! What an incredible offer!

I know the point you are trying to make, but the company is not "terminating" either one of the employees you mention. You don't have a contract with the company that they aren't upholding. VZ has come to an agreement with another company, based on the pretense that this new company can do the same job with some added value (i.e. cheaper, better, more efficient, etc...). The new company has offered to allow the existing employees to continue to provide support in the same role and is even guaranteeing them employment for one year. This is a guarantee that you do not currently have at VZ.

The second scenario you refer to also isn't a termination, it is an option. People don't have to take the option, hence why it is voluntary.

What if you move on to Infosys and get promoted and get opportunities that never existed at VZ? What if you don't move to Infosys and you are riffed without any package 6 months from now?

Yes, we need to find out if a company can terminate two sets of employees, one with benefits and one group with nothing, pushing them to some Indian corporation.

I want to know if it is legal as well. Time for a class action.

Most are doing the work of 3-4 people now. I am blessed to be IT and eligible and hope for good news on the 10th.

Our group was reduced from 15 20 yrs ago, now just me and one other left from that original team.

My heart goes out to those who are outsourced, unable or ineligible to apply, and those left behind to pick up the pieces after reductions.

Some of us are planning to reach out for some legal assistance. Why is it that some received a lucrative package and some kicked off to Infosys. Both groups are terminated. One respectfully with an excellent package, the others needed to run existing business kicked out with nothing. Is it legal????

Don't know who gets the sh--tier end of the stick from this yet.

The only winners are the ones who get accepted for the voluntary leave package. S---s that is seems like it is being ran like a lottery. Don't know how many people are required to take it, but if enough don't then there will be involuntary RIFs after.

IT has been getting gutted the past few years, and any one left at this point is going to be doing the work of 3-4 people without any benefits.

People transitioning to infosys, have to work for infosys and still support verizon.
