They cannot just dismantle wireline where you have goverment information. It is not a simple process because you have union involved, etc.
They will try to sell it but for now they are outsourcing a big number of IT people and the move will 4Q 2018.

I hope someone can complain to the president. this is such a bad deal. we all know what infosys does - will keep us for a year and then get rid of everyone. They have not even given an option to take package or choose this option. Also Director and above as always have no strategy but are safe and even if they are let go will get a 200K plus package while the mid level got so screwed. Also they screwed our bonus. We all know how infosys operates. We all the writing on the wall. 1 yr and we will be on the road. VZ says infosys will give us the same benefit but I know for a fact they dont give bonus , 401 K match and give less vacations. so much to make america great again
only one who benefits is the useless management of VZ. The great management of VZ has wasted billions on so many projects (go90- 700M, Iptv 1 B plus, yahoo and aol 9 B -moved from # 3 downhill everyday) and if you check where the folks who led this great projects - got millions of dollars and are now screwing some other companies.

VZ gonna dismantle Wireline, Vz doesn't sh-- care about any application. If it fires off thousands of employee, Vz can be sued. So this transition tackle Labor Law. Then shutsdown Wireline totally. Infy accepts the employee with a clause of 1 year contract and throw away later. Mutually Benefit Deal.

I agree with @VjAoEqI-aca. No manager or in management is interested anymore in "Development" of he team and all. Everybody is just savcign their own a..s. Moral has gone to dogs. All the time there is a sword hanging on your head, whether your name will be announced in next chopping block batch.
For the past few years things have been going downhill and the moral has been in the dirt. Employees have taken to calling the layoffs " the bi-annual firing fest."
Now they have Hans "Gruber" as their new CEO and he is the king of outsourcing.
No one likes the direction the company's going in.

What will happen to those who are enrolled in EPP program? I switched over to EPP 7 months ago when they had the deal for iphone 8 plus free with iphone x. Now I still have $1350 left as balance and they are saying EPP is removed? Thats outrageous.

I think Verizon is very generous. For those transitioning they have one year to look for other opportunities. For those not, they are offered buy out packages.
I am in VZW IT and got the email from Shankar that I have been identified as a member transitioning to Infosys. Oh Well

Not everyone on Shankar's call was affected. There was some confusion with that. People going to Infosys will have comparable pay, benefits, carry over their time, etc. - for one year guaranteed. After that year, who knows. Another call is coming about the program being offered - basically a volunteer package to leave, so at least people aren't getting fired this round it seems.
Poor Shankar has been going to all the forums explaining how he is working on digital transformation , how they are focusing on lead assets like AI , machine learning and analytics etc. How the company is changing its product mix.
Don't blame the guy . Have you heard of the company Netcracker who is consulting Verizon through this Transformation. Not only Verizon but several others.

...sooo basically not wireless.
The outsourcing was previously explained to me as being something for non-directional apps or apps that are on the periphery. I guess we'll find out the extent of what they have planned, but for now the lack of specifics is rather chafing.
Did it sound like operations is next to be outsourced or am I reading to much into it?
How do I determine if I am in any of those departments/groups? I was hired just under a month ago and it’s unreal that this is happening
