This decision is not an easy one to make. The newbies including our new leader can't understand that for some of us long timers we have put in blood, sweat and tears over the years to grow this company to what it is today. This is not just a job but has been our pride and joy where failure was not an option. It's not just taking a severance package it's giving up what has been a large part of our lives. I understand that everything changes and life goes on but it's not just money some if us stayed around for... it's the pride and joy of creating a company to be proud of and a culture like no other.

I would be willing to say that 1hrp is no older than 34. Somewhere along the way the work ethic has disappeared. I have been here for over 35 years I started as a tech and went to management and in either position I felt like I owned part of this company. I owned what I did and was responsible for doing a good job. It mattered to me that I tried my best, did my best and knew the most. I cared for this company and I felt they cared for me. So when people call hard workers, loyal and dedicated people losers, it speaks more about them than about the people they are targeting. I feel sorry for the ones with that attitude because, aside from a paychek you will never know what it feels like to matter that you work someplace and maybe that's why you are so bitter.
1hrp you are very rude!
@1oiu. STFU! You obviously don’t know anything about what that poster iis going through or being a career person. Until you do stop being nasty. It’s not a good look - you must be s miserable and have low self esteem. Take your trolling elsewhere! —->
Take care of you; because if you died today, your job will be posted online before your obituary.
Just came across that quote this morning.
@1hrp you sound young and extremely ignorant at this moment. You're exactly the problem with this company. You look down your nose at people who have years with this company and not recognizing the hard work people have put in. So on that note, why don't YOU quit?
What a f---in loser to consider a corporation as blood sweat and life. Retire already. Folks like you are the reason VZ is going downhill!!
The Verizon from bell atlantic/Nynex/gte etc does long ago. It only lives in people’s memories.
I don’t know what Hans cares about but I expect it isn’t any of us or any part of the business.
I hope we get some time on the offer before we have to take it. I’d really like to get a feel about what is out there and maybe work a little bit harder on searching since I’m just been a little lazy looking because my VZ is ok but just a job. Nothing I do matters and if I or all of my department disappeared they just shift the work into another group or stop doing it like we never existed.
There used to be high employee morale - VZW was an exceptional company to work for. Happy employees made for productive employees. Things turned when Lowell took over as CEO. The company started to care more about penny pinching than they did about the employees. Now I see people in all departments giving half the effort because nobody has any job security. How many of us are just waiting for a buyout so we can move on?
Copper landlines are dead, give 3 month commitment dates.
How can i take my job serious when people are out of service for 9 months for cable failures
Don't fool yourself, they could care less about the wireless employees. The beginning of the end was the Vodafone buyout and roll into corporate....what a sh@t show wireless has become....
Verizon, doesn't care about anyone ! Only its wireless! , I worked for this company for 39 years , I seen it all. The government had to break up the telephone co so they look like saints ! You know who invented the smart phone Bell labs did not APPLE ! AT&T had to give up all its pantents when the government broke up MA bell . Also did phone service get cheaper, I think not it cost more for family to have all those phones for there kids, the only person getting Rich @ Verizon is Lowell and the board and they didn't invent anything!
I just hope they don't wait til end of the day to send the info as I was planning on being off but now I can't. For those of you still believing it's rumor you need to get your head out of the sand... most orgs including mine were already told this is happening and we will get an email with a link as a 3rd party vendor is handling....
I am 58 can I find a 100k job. If so, I leave if not why leave. But I feel no one wants me.

when you try to make a good thing last.” - Neil Young.
The only thing I can equate it to is a marriage. The marriage starts out great, your happy and then years go by and things start to change and your're no longer happy because the other person (Verizon) has changed so much and not for the better. You stick around longer then you should hoping things will change but it won't. The only thing left to do is get a divorce.
They don't care and neither do the shareholders.
What have you done for me lately?
It's not the leaving of Liverpool that grieves me
But my darlings when I think of thee
Yeah. The company s---s and bleeds money (non-VZW). I get pride, but what was built really isnt there anymore. It's defunct and dying.
I agree. I've been with Verizon for 30yrs. This is not just some job and a paycheck. It's a career that I am proud to have. Where I have made lifetime friends and connections who through the good and bad have stuck together. I'm trying to emotionally prepare myself for Monday. Wishing the best for my fellow Verizon Employees who will be affected.
