Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

MOVING

Just found out from a co-worker that my office and all the other offices in Basking Ridge are relocating to Irving Texas, not sure if they are going to offer me a relocate package or throw me out with the rest of the trash to! Sadly we have to find this out through word of mouth. Upper management has no balls!!! But they made sure there asses are covered.

Now I know why my boss took all that c-ap from his boss not too long ago!!

THANKS!!!

For those who were aware VZ did sell buildings out east years ago & leased them back for 3 yrs - this was when they were telling all BU's to terminate leased buildings/spaces "for cost savings". The plan was to build up Hidden Ridge in Irving "which they've done" in order to move east coast operations to TX... why? Lower Taxes, No Unions & to shed employees - VZ knows many employees are rooted out east & will not move so they will take whatever package VZ offers at that time. Realize this transition phase didn't just spring up overnight, this was planned out before Hans came on board - he was hired solely to do their bidding so they don't look like the bad guys - To the nay-sayers - Ask yourself this question: Why would VZ dump hundreds of millions of dollars into a location "Hidden Ridge" that does not house corporate employees? VZ aquired that building through the Bell merger so it was already palatial (marble floors & walls, several outdoor patios) - marketing, accounting, promotion & several other groups has occupied that space so why spend that kind of money just to improve the area "especially when they're looking for cost savings?"

This was news 3 years ago. Dumb. You're not invested in the company.

whats the point of these posts? this building is nearing completion and the tenant is not VZ... it is Pioneer Natural Resources... current VZ complex is across the street and even larger with plenty of open space

How would they transport all those polo ponies you executive types ride at break time from NJ to TX?

Don't tell me they are going to sell the beloved Basking Ridge polo ponies to a dog food company!

Got it wrong. Verizon is hiring Millennials at half the pay of the fogies they have now.

Basking ridge to hidden ridge. It's just a different ridge. I love the hidden ridge campus, better bbq nearby too. Wish they'd move me there.

There is a lot of construction going on across the street at hidden ridge for a huge multi use campus including lots of office space which many groups are fighting over.

They wanted recently to make it a center for it like the center for finance in Florida.

Irving, TX has a lot of Verizon Millennial employees, who do Millennial things like look at Millennial smartphones all day, doing Millennial social networking, while they walk into Millennial walls.

Not to mention Millennial success stories like Millennial GO90 and Millennial Oath, who will soon move from Millennial third largest, social network, ad company to Millennial fourth largest, after Amazon passes them.

Good thing Millennial Verizon is getting rid of all the people who built the company and are hiring worthless Millennials at less than half the pay.

Not saying he’s accurate but the Irving location is massive and only half of if is a call center. The other half will have stores, restaurants and housing. The HQ address on paychecks changed to Irving quite some time ago, that’s pretty telling.

That makes no sense. Verizon doesn't even have service in TX since 2016 - sold that territory to Frontier. Verizon only offer service along the East Coast. Why would they move their headquaters to TX :|
