I don't understand. Everybody is talking like the whole buyout has been announced to everybody and is know a fact known by all, yet in my department there was absolutely no mention of it.
Granted, we don't have anybody with 30+ years here, but we have people who are 20 and above.
What's going on here?
For anyone new on this board, here is the rumor progression:
Wild speculation/vague rumor based on something third-hand or overheard in the Basking Ridge lunch room
More specific rumors begin to form based on what trolls/former employees/T-Moblie posters think will resonate with VZ employees
Very specific rumors circulate with multiple "Confirmed" posts based on supposed conversations with management or relatives "in the know." Dates start to get thrown around.
Projected dates come and go, but predicted Big Thing never happens. People start to push the date forward in small increments. Not Thursday, but Friday. Not Friday, but Monday next week. Not Monday, but Friday next week < (WE ARE HERE)
It becomes obvious that Big Thing isn't happening. Trolls fall back on lines like "RIFs happen all the time, you just don't hear about them" to save face and keep people interested enough to keep checking in for the start of the next rumor cycle.
As always, be prepared for changes that impact your family and financial situation. Don't lose sleep over anonymous message board posts.
I hear most company news through news stories especially anything bad.
My old managers used to share. My new manager used to sometimes but lately they are 100% pretend they know nothing even after it is public ally announced.
From what I hear, it's only been communicated to VPs. I know some VPs have leaked it to directors, I'd heard the details from a director I work with, but my own director hasn't even been told the details. I had to fill him in with what I'd heard. All he had heard was that a company wide email will be going out Monday.
The buyout is not a hoax. Don't forget that by giving folks what could be considered "Insider information" before it is officially announced, Verizon could be violating Securities law. As such, they are best to say nothing until the official statement is released, which i believe will be on Monday.
As long as you have 1 year in you can take it. And yes wireless management can go.
