“...The knicked bones and excised muscle will heal slower...”
Dr. 2bck, excised muscle is muscle that’s been cut out entirely. As it’s been totally removed, there will be no healing in its future.
Your analogy is a peculiar non sequitur.
Director in Pittsburgh gone.
re: that is funny. the only businesses that really bring any dollars in are from the wireless and fios.
Posted by someone trolling or perhaps another wireless person that simply does not understand the business and how their services are provided.
HAD wireless built out their own network, entirely, they would certainly be less profitable on the books. However, they lease or pay monthly for virtually all their facilities from, and I this may be a surprise to some...from WIRELINE.
Wireline built the wireless network at wireline expense.
Wireless is nothing more than a 'brand' with a database. Because of that the worse possible place in this business to be is on the wireless side. Too easy to sell off that database, and its services can be provided by out-sourced groups.
Wireline and wireline employees will remain; sure, they may be spun off or absorbed but in the end it is the wireline infrastructure that powers the wireless present and future not only for Verizon but for many other companies.
Wireless employees will be...well, probably a few site techs and the skeleton crew needed to manage the paperwork end of the business.
Too Many.
The depth of the cuts will lack the surgical precision needed. The knicked bones and excised muscle will heal slower than the cancerous growth that remains. Those desperate clock-watchers and clingers burrow deep into the machine. It's complacency all the way down.
True true true but also true that too many VPs that Lowell brought in and raised are in waaaaaaaay over their heads and really have abandoned the network to try and go all Hollywood. All them fools are the ones who need to go with all they wasted. This is the way roll. Screw it up over and over and over again and keep laying people off to cover up the mistakes. Here we go again. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. So much for won't get fooled again. 20 years! Damn!
that is funny. the only businesses that really bring any dollars in are from the wireless and fios. all that underwear man stuff and oath and business development ha-ha-ha is all bs and wasted billions and bloated management with green eyeshade geeks. all the supposed leaders here are bs and only about earnings and the stockprice. they dont get that if you just do the job better than anyone else, then the money will come pouring through the door. ask network and wireless. funny stuff.
JBX: "VZ is already moving to a Google cloud platform anyway. AWS is another source. Datacenters are not neeed anymore for VZ."
Do you know how stupid you sound? Both of these companies are making a bundle off of businesses and technologies that We Pioneers Built and unwise and unsavory VPs sold for pennies.
You have no idea about this business, do you? outsourcing IT is the stupidest move that have made since engaging Go90. And then they are suprised when they are hacked and their customers are hacked. Really?
No technology should be outsourced if the company is to maintain its integrity. Then again, the integrity left long ago when the board stopped directing a communications giant to try to find 'something new!'
When did communications between people stop being something that people want to do and are willing to pay for?
Pittsburgh director already cut, brought a new guy in from Delaware.
7.
You happy?
The mediocre stay. Top talent leaves. Poor talent gets fired. And then there's the VPs who kiss a--. Angiolet.... big lips.
“...older union thugs...” - 1hhq
Keep being brainwashed by conservative radio pundits troll.
Phone men and women, as well as their union brethren teachers, postal workers, electricians, actors, and steel workers, are far from thugs.
Banding together for the mutual benefit that a united voice brings, a strength that would be more difficult to attain as individuals, is a long way from thuggery. Why do you think we have the armed forces, cities, companies, countries knucklehead.
It’s been my experience that, while there may be a few thugs outside of supervisory positions, there are a few within it as well.
This round all levels of management from suoervisors to VPs cut. Next stop buy out the older union thugs. Then any union members withbless then 15 years with no job protection are gone. Company can then concentrate and operate with Aprox 75k less employees
Omig !!! The whole strategy here is to make the stock explode !!!! Look at the open interest in the option market on VZ calls it’s insane!!! Huge bets !!!!! This is the recipe to do it! F--- innovation ! VZ realized along time ago it could beat Netflix, Google or Comcast in the video delivery models! They gave that up after a failed GO90 and IPTV testing that went bust!!! Thanks to useless Microsoft Edgcast advice that was wrong.
Now 5G is the talk of the town. Ok maybe that will turn churn the customer base, perhaps. If they can convince customers they are the one ultimate source for internet video and voice??
Outsourcing all of IT is the right thing to do. VZ is already moving to a Google cloud platform anyway. AWS is another source. Datacenters are not neeed anymore for VZ. COs are selective in what they need to do. For example Video Head Ends and leased POP global network facilities. Real estate is being sold !!! They even sold the headquarters in Basking Ridge!!
Just that hype alone in addition to the HUGE layoffs buyouts and employment reduction should get this stock moving like a technology company!!! VZ 85 per share by year end !!!
@1kuy - it's "This bloody thread is like a Monty Python skit" you twit.... now sod off
This whole thread is like a bloody Monty Python skit...
Leadership that shot morale and productivity from September through end of year with this package offer and very little communication about the strategy. Outstanding!
1fph,
I could be wrong, but I think there is a little sarcasm there in 1mdr post. Not so much cheerleading.
"Most if not all are exceptional leaders and letting any of them go would be a huge mistake."
Maybe the funniest thing I've read all day!
This isn't crowd around. No need for the cheerleading.
Yes they need similar cuts at all levels. Many(but not all) of the previous cuts were at the bottom, making the org top heavy
How about the useless CIO?
If you're cutting 20% of the workforce, 25-30% of management sounds about right. We'll see how serious this company is about saving money and cutting useless managers.
All the VP's and Directors will stay. They are diligently needed in all aspects of the company. Most if not all are exceptional leaders and letting any of them go would be a huge mistake.
They can easily cut by close to 50%
Hans didn't actually meet with 300 leaders. He hired consultants to do it for him.
about 25% fewer
Let’s start with all the VLSS directors
Then work your way into all the operations guys that are micro managing changing a light bulb. Then just delete the useless Senior Managers that just delegate to the useless supervisors... lol
