@1pwq - no one said a nano was equivalent to a Bachelors degree, read a little more carefully. Says when ‘paired’ with a Bachelors. Means a Bachelor degree plus a nano to supplement.

ATO is All Technical Operations. It's the org that runs wireline, cell network, IT, big data, and software development. I think they have tens of thousands of employees and at least as many contractors.

Nano degree can't hurt you, but the real question is it the best use of my time? Are there better avenues? Possibly so.

Recommendation: keep resume up to date, look externally now for hiring in q1 and do not be complacent. Nobody is sitting in a guaranteed job. Those days ended when SBC bought AT&T. Go cowboys (not the football team). Keep running this company into the ground.

Recommendation FYI: get any type of certification(PM, IT related, health, etc) while employed and use connections inside and outside company. If 60+, you really need connections, most HR are your children’s age and not comfortable managing a mommy and daddy type. They are intimidated by your experience and basically don’t think you know anything until running into a roadblock. If you have a passion or hobby, go for it. 50+, good luck, you’re faced with younger folks too and you will last longer than your money. They can’t imagine going out after work with older folks. Different world but our president says employment at an all time high but limited in 50-60+ age group in corporate setting. Check out LinkedIn.

Our center is having a Town Hall meeting for the entire center, so they will be taking everyone off the phones at the same time for this. Can this be a meeting to close the center?

I agree focus has to be on how well a certificate can help at another company, so don’t understand the nano hate. Some of them have portability, such as programming, esp when paired with a Bachelors degree.

Right, keep wasting time with the nanobullshiit, respectfuly I recommend instead a PM certification or IT Certificatipns. That you may need outside The toxic T

@1wmt - nanos are done on your own time, so people completing them really don’t have much of any time at all.

If you have time to sit there all day and jack around with nano degrees and badges instead of real work that should be a clue.

A. Tell them you are confident.

B. Tell them you got budgets approved

C. Tell them to give your work to off shore

D. Tell them it came from above and you had no choice

E. Tell them to sign documents and kick their a-- out the back door never to be heard from again and congratulate yourself on your new promotion for yourself

it's like stealing candy from a baby, it's the AT&T way.

WHEN THEY SAY "THE ARE CONFIDENT" "RUN", MOST LAYOFFS ARE STRATEGIC , MEANING THEY COME FROM ABOVE, AS MOST MANAGERS DO NOT KNOW MUCH..TBC

My Boss seems fairly confident (but not 100% sure) that ATO won't see another surplus this year, but all bets are off starting 1Q19.

"I've been working on my nano degree and have several badges. It looks like the way to go" With all due respect: BAHAHAHAHAHA! When your organization needs to provide numbers, they don't care about your stinkin' badges. Or your nano. And word to the wise, external companies certainly don't give a flip about these things either.

It's possible, more likely q1

ATO is a desert for any morality so layoff for holidays is probably being discussed. ATO will be mostly outsourced next year, its happening now, SAFe. These value streams are outsource streams
