Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

FirstNet

I've already heard 3 Verizon commercials for Verizon's first responder service but yet to hear one for AT&T. And AT&T is the one with the government contract. Wake up leadership. You're taking money out of our pockets.

VZ's playing it smart. Offering same priority and preemption on existing spectrum for cheaper price. That band 14 spectrum is no advantage. I would look for T-mob to have some 5G offer to public service when the time comes, if they can find a handset manufacture.

I was involved in FirstNet early on and to make the financials work ~5 or more assumptions had to work out 100% right. AT&T leadership simply did not want VZ to get the spectrum... oddly VZ didn’t even submit a FirstNet bid and the former head of AT&T federal that pushed for AT&T to bid in first place left the company 6 months after AT&T “won” FirstNet and committed to spend over $40 B to run the network... VZ has much more discipline around strategic decisions.... AT&T keeps running same play... buy something big, regardless of price and the hollow out the asset with year over year reductions... huh, you mean you can’t cut your way to growth..??? Who knew....?

FirstNet is a joke. Do you really want your first responders to depend on these clowns when your wife and children are in a car accident? your father has a heart attack and needs an ambulance?

When I worked at at&t the finance department was always raiding the 911 budgets to pay for executive bonus and pet projects for Brooks M etc. I was always told not to spend anything on emergency 911 network unless something broke and we received a fine after someone died.

AT&T is not a communications company. They are trying to be a 1980's style junk bond corporate raider who happen to sell phone and media "stuff"

A word if caution, con artist AT&T who usually cheats and tricks others by persuading them to believe something that is not true. Is Making you believe that the next generation FistNet is a reality.

For what I can see is the same sh--ty network re-branded with a PR campaign that could put Randall Stephenson in the white house, that is probably the only thing AT&T'S Lobbiest and cheereleaderS are really good at, besides tbe ghost projects LoL
