AT&T Undoing what is actually selling. SMH

AT&T Inc., which bought Time Warner Inc. for $85 billion and plans to put much of its newly acquired Hollywood content online, is shutting down the FilmStruck streaming service operated by its media division.

The site for streaming classic, arthouse and independent movies has stopped taking new subscribers and will close on Nov. 29, according to a website posting.

Consolidation of streaming services operated by Time Warner looked inevitable following AT&T’s purchase of the company, given the phone giant already offers DirecTV Now and has plans for other services. John Stankey, head of AT&T Inc.’s WarnerMedia, said.

well the content s---s now so it can only get better, but never will beat netflix, although ntfx has a large dept. but their stock is doing well

This is called reverse synergy. AT&T + DirecTV + Time Warner combined are worth $100 billion dollars LESS than the value of the individual companies.

In the real world this is a FAILURE.

In Randy and "the Johns" world this is somehow a success.

Beyond the basic math.....am I missing something? as this looks like a sooper dooper fukkup to me

This is like the 3rd story just this week of T cancelling TW projects. What an innovator that Randall. Shutting down projects that are delving in future forms of delivery so T can lock all content behind its fabled “Netflix killer”. More jobs, and talent losses right in time for Christmas with no clear vision for the future beyond catch phrases. Surprise, surprise.

Turns out that the word “innovation” used 6 times during an interview by AT&T's CEO Randall Stephenson before the Time Warnes take over, is not a Harry Potter-esque magical incantation that, once spoken, renders companies more inventive, creative, and entrepreneurial. The word can be uttered by anyone, but recreating real results takes a visionary perspective in business, unfortunatelly this conglomerate is one of these companies.
