Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Watch out GE

ATT is the latest GE. Buy companies at top dollar then realize you did a dumb thing. Like Direct for nearly 50B. Money down the drain. Time Warner....who is gonna compete w Netflix, Amazon etc? Not ATT. Take a walk around any T site and all you see is empty space and low dollar imported workers. In NJ over the years T has closed several large campuses and built the even larger site in Middletown. That complex is already showing signs if needing extensive work and is underutilized. Guess it will be sold at a big loss....again. not looking good kids. The boy scout Stephenson hasn't realized not everyone is a boy scout. They're stealing his lunch money.

The difference being that even with all their debt, GE had solid profitable businesses. AT&T has businesses that are dying, much of it due to neglect and mismanagement and much of it due to changing consumer tastes.

And GE had the sense to cut their dividend in order to focus on paying down debt. AT&T will continue to raise their dividend a penny a year to keep their precious 'dividend aristocrat' status. AT&T keeps playing the numbers game while business financials collapse around them.

GE will eventually recover. AT&T is slowly heading for bankruptcy.

Randal needs to go. WITHOUT the golden parachute.

DirecTV is the new Blockbuster Video. Nothing wrong with the product. It just can’t compete with the internet. My daughters have TVs they never use. They prefer to watch on their phones. A phone held one foot away is about the same screen size as a 65” TV 12 feet away. And it goes to the bathroom with you.

The only thing that would have the market regain confidence in Att is the firing Randy and his clique of rubber stamper. Following that, there will be a lot rationalization of business and layoffs. It doesn’t t look good to work in this environment.
