Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Injured on the Job

Anyone have any experience regarding how T treats Prem Techs who are injured on the job and not able to return to doing that work due to surgeon's orders?

I’m not a tech but a retail manager that was injured at work. My injuries are permanent and have caused me to lose my almost $60k a year position due to negligence on their part. Sedgwick are fkn a holes. They delay everything then get mad at you for getting a lawyer.

My store manager, we’ll call him Derrill Paris, threatened to fire me for not coming into work while bed ridden from the accident.

Get a lawyer, and get one now.

"There have been cases of the company spying on individuals out on disability and then either denying the claim or even terminating individuals." This actually happens all the time, these are hardly isolated incidents. Read the "Integrity Bulletin" that comes out a couple times a year to see all of the boneheaded things employees do to get themselves fired when they're on "disability". No need to be paranoid, how about just being ethical by not being on disability when you're not disabled?

Illegitimate doctors are everywhere , those that cant find patients, the rejects per say, find home at AT&T , and the company will get a second opinion from them, The Company doctor mission is to MMI your worComp Paperwork, that way you can be fired wirhout recourse

Rely on your Doctors, it is possible the company Dr may have a different timeline for your return. If your injured your a liability. Document everything, every email, every phone call every dr appointment. Sedgewick like HR is employed by the company. This is your health, take it seriously. Your manager will blame it on the process, they are part of the process. You are a number.

follow your Doctors advice

Yes, but in time you will find that it will be more difficult to get your medical appointments in check, even with a good lawyer, also they force people to go to the company doctors, the ones paid by the company to get you off ASAP,

Be very careful and stay on top of all FMLA paperwork, which will be a pain. Do not miss ANY paperwork deadlines. And remember, Sedgwick is NOT your friend. Some of the case managers can be inattentive or even hostile. If you find yourself in that position request a different case manager. Sedgwick is not your friend, they do the company's bidding. Also, do not do any activity against doctors orders. There have been cases of the company spying on individuals out on disability and then either denying the claim or even terminating individuals. Don't want to make you paranoid but you need to be paranoid.
