Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Try as they might...

At&t will never be a leader in content media. They should have stuck to their core network delivery, building a world class network. We are one the way down. At&t is not nimble enough to compete with Netflix or Google or anyone else. This is a numbers driven organization. They will NEVER build the network needed to deliver the content that they now own to deliver a "seamless" (their words) experience. They will do it on the cheap. This is the difference between a leader that was once a technician in the field ( Ed Whitaker) and a bean counting Masters in Business (Randall Stephenson) ,

The big problem with this company in my opinion, is that they make ALL decisions/changes 5 years after everyone doing the actual work brought the problem to their manager's attention. The company is a behemoth that slowly churns and grinds. No way on God's good earth can ATT compete with the leith game changing progressive companies that Randall has opted to compete against. Very sad for us !

AT&T faces a ton of competition from over-the-top competitors like Hulu Live and Alphabet's YouTube TV. Both charge the same $40 per month as DirecTV Now, but Hulu Live includes access to Hulu's on-demand service and 50 hours of DVR storage, and YouTube TV includes unlimited DVR storage. (DirecTV Now offers only 20 hours of DVR storage.) DirecTV will have a hard time competing with others in the space without any notable advantage.

T had a chance to dominate internet connectivity but decided they wanted to be a pseudo Netflix instead...Bad decision..

Ed believed in taking care of the customer. Randall places a numeric value on each customer. He really doesn't give a sh-- about the loyal 50 year dial tone customer.

I have to agree with both the last 2 posts. Stephenson is not a leader or an innovative visionary. The board is lame to allow this guy to remain after the T-Mobile fiasco, over paying for DTV and allowing payments to go to Michael Cohen. He should have been fired after the T-Mobile fiasco. The Board is either blind or spineless to allow him to stay on

The AT&T Board is made up of people that don't have a clue about technology or entertainment, that is why Randy is able to bamboozle them. The board is a joke.

Randy will never be half the CEO or man that Ed was. He needs to go, he should have been let go after his failed attempt at T-mobile.
