I was contacted by a Verizon recruiter. Are these fake job postings?

What rsm said. I was hired last year in July and laid off in November. There are continuous waves of lay-offs so it’s something to consider.
I just got hired. Training starts in VA in 2 weeks. I joined for the resume experience, but I hear it's actually a good career
If the job is related to 5G, or iEN (current name for core network) then that area is where the company is focused. Just keep in mind that they may be losing some people with lots of experience due to the voluntary severance package. I'm in engineering, and I know they have job openings for iEN right now.

Departments are hiring, however the company is going through a multi year period of downsizing so i would ask about this in interviews. My advice is if you're okay with a big name on your resume and competitive pay, go ahead and apply. However, there's no real job security anymore.
