Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Anyone else notice the posts telling everyone to take the package and run are saying so in hopes to increase the number of ...

... those who are leaving? they are worried for their own jobs and want to make sure enough leave so the RIF doesn't terminate them.

OP - That is what insecure people tell themselves. There will be plenty of people who stay because they are afraid to leave.

"The only people staying are the ones that know they don't have a better option".

BINGO!

To the comment below, (as I hope you know) 97' telecom and 2019 telecom, are quite different. Good luck sticking it out.

“If your line of business does not generate revenue. You will be gone. Maybe not this time, but eventually you will be.”

I’ve heard this since ‘97 or so. I believe it eventually we’ll be gone 21 years now I’ve heard this threat. Of course it does go for many of those who generate revenue too because it might not be enough, might be in a group they don’t want or had bad VP representation or there could be a chance to outsource that too and just soak in the money without direct employees.

I'll piggyback on the that last post for those convincing themselves they or their team 'saves money' - IT IS NOT the same as generation of revenue.

Man your gonna be p-ss-d when they lay you off. Your really reading into this. The only people staying are the ones that know they don't have a better option. You don think Verizon knows that? They Pay to many people to do nothing. If your line of business does not generate revenue. You will be gone. Maybe not this time, but eventually you will be.

Go ahead and stay with all the other d---beat skilless lifers then. I really don't care. I already accepted the offer and hope they give it to me. Then I am going to pay off the house and take 6 months off! I wanted to leave anyways and this makes the decision so easy.

Besides, this article says it all when it comes to what kind of company Verizon is and where it is going. It also blatently points out the talent will leave and the garbage will stay.

How many of those hits work here and are affected by the VSP or infosys and what small percentage post?

Former VZ employees kept telling me stuff they learned here they aren’t affected. Recruiters and headhunters tell me about it.

I doubt if there will be enough volunteers to reduce the workforce to the point where RIF's can be avoided. I suspect many layoffs will follow regardless as to whether they are voluntary or involuntary.

IMHO There are more than a handful of people that come to this site. Some of the posts have thousands of hits.

I've had many discussions about this site with co-workers over the years and to the best of my knowledge I'm the only one who trolls here. View count of the posts alone should let you know the daily audience in these trying times is about 1k past or present eyeballs. I'm suggesting you do NOT take the RIF offer. Instead wait for the next, far more generous offer. By waiting for the next offer your mental health and peace of mind will improve exponentially. I'm certain thay 4*4weeks with a pretty little unicorn is the next RIF package.

Good luck to all!

OP, i have long believed this website is run by the company and only a handful of people use it, and 90 percent of a dozen posts are done by one person. The clown that says "good luck to all" AND the one that says "i left 5 years ago and never looked back" AND the one who says "55 yrs old and 22 years and i am taking the package" AND the one that says "47 years old and 27 years and taking it" AND "41 years of age 19 years, leaning towards leaving" IS ALL THE SAME PERSON.

if theres more than 5 or 6 people who bother to post here i would be surprised, while it seems like theres more like 50 or 60.

Look for similarities in posts, words, etc... And take this website with a grain of salt, or maybe several grains.

It’s not a bad plan though. Maybe another angle is HR pushing out messages here to allay what they hear as people’s worst fears to try and get the numbers up.

It is a great job market. For minimum wage highly experienced educated skilled workers.

Anyone else notice how the OP has written a generalization that's absolutely impossible to prove?
