For us rolling the dice, what can we expect in the upcoming weeks? Can the company force me to relocate? Who is paying for relocation? I doubt the company would consider paying anyone to move . What if I am not willing to relocate? Will I be offered a package then? Can they force me to take a demotion or a pay cut ? Decisions Decisions

Verizon wants to focus on Verizon's field of expertise. The massive IT billing system can easily be outsourced with lower cost employees and Verizon will still get the benefit of their cell phone business, in other words, Verizon will still receive lots of cash!
But there is a number. It's $10B over 4 years. Where do you think that savings is coming from? To get there they need to get under 100K employees.

The best predictor of the future is what has happened in the past. They have riffed for the last twenty years. It common place here at Vz, by the way many other companies are laying off. The only jobs not laying off are low paying .
Don't know why people are saying that it is their "opinion" that RIFs will take place if they don't get the numbers they want, they SAID there would be RIFs if they need too.
If you are not in a revenue generating group, you will be gone sooner or later, one way or another.
Reorg has to be pending that combines Wireless with Wireline at Director Level. Once this happens it will bake for a while. Expect more rifs next fall. Ultimately comes down to job function and your value. Of course just my opinion.

No one can tell you what to expect. We are all just speculating. My personal opinion is that they won't be moving people around. They will continue to RIF until they get where they want to be. If they don't get what they want from this VSP, the next 12-18 months will be scary ugly. And if you don't volunteer for this one, the one you get will be a standard 35 weeks. Unless your functions are outsourced. Clear as mud answer, right?
