Do you think they will allow everyone to leave or do you think they will just cherry pick the ones that they want gone. I can’t imagine being here after choosing to go and then being turned down

People who decline the Infosys offer will be off payroll BY June. They are not guaranteed to stay UNTIL June.
If you stay will they rif you anyway Dec 28th or Mach/June,etc.? I just wonder how long you will survive on the Non IT side.
Most VSP volunteers will be off the books on 12/28. Only a small % will stay through March or June, based on the needs of the business. This does not include the rebadge who decline the Infosys offer. They will go off payroll June or later in order to have time to transition work. Those going to Infosys will also be off payroll by year end.
Considering that the date of Infosys rebadging is Dec 31, I think they want a certain cost to be off the books in the new year. So some of the VSP volunteers may also be given that date
If they decline me I’m showing them what my boss is pushing us to do now it’s almost like they are trying to sabatoge us one last time while they take the package. It’s totally useless busy work that adds nothing and accomplishes nothing.
"44,000 x 15% = 6,600 @ $100k = $660M"
Assuming it is mainly the older (with more service) taking it, $100K salary is probably the low end and salary is only part of the cost (beniefits, FICA employer contributions etc). But yes, probably isn't $10B by itself especially taking into account the one time costs of the package
44,000 x 15% = 6,600 @ $100k = $660M $10B
Everyone will be let go who applied we are just numbers and those left will go and work where told.
Personally, I’m pretty sure the only people that would be staggered out or declined all together would be customer facing roles. They would not allow a whole functional workgroup to leave at the same time.
Management is all expendable, and worst case if needed, they can rehire someone for less.
Remember, it’s public information that the company is trying to eliminate $10 billion in operating expenses in order to pay down debt and invest in Network infrastructure. Even if 10% of those offered take the VSP, it’s not going to be anywhere close to $10 billion, so I would expect it would be very rare for people to be outright declined
@1hji That is for the rebadged to Infosys people.
This discussion is about non rebadged. Did you hear about this for the non-rebadged people also?
They are offering some retention packages to not take the package. Hearing it was 2 years if they agree to stay on.
Strictly by the numbers, if numbers are not met all who apply will be let go and it will be on the remaining management to figure it out. Straight from the vp's mouth.
It is the end of the world as you know it and you should feel fine. Believe it or not your life will be fine as soon as you take control and stop leaving it up to others!
I'm going by previous RIFs and that they have been reiterating they don't want to impact business.
You are right though, the rules can change.
"It's unlikely they will release more than 10-15%..."
Why is that unlikely? Hans released half of Ericsson's employees, when they had more employees than Verizon has now.
You have to remember that this is corporate America and you need to throw common sense out of the window.
The sort of who is approved will first be buy years of service as they have communicated. This whole buyout framework is to get high years of service off payroll, and avoid age descrimination on RIFs. There may be some vary small number that they might hold back who are high tenure, but likely very few. Lower tenures will be the majority not accepted if their groups can not function even with a 6 month delay in off payroll. lower tenures in generall will not be allowed to leave if those asking for buyot exceeds their targets that they want to go.
"Management" includes dba, software developers, operations, help desk, etc. It doesn't mean directors and above.
You would think people would take the time to understand terminology before complaining about it. Good luck running anything with all of management being let go.
i don;t think we need too many management people.
It's unlikely they will release more than 10-15%, so it completely depends on how many apply, and how many apply from within a job function.
They are staggering release dates so they can retain important people half a year longer if needed.
I am sure they wont let some specific people go (a small percentage). The rest depends on how many are volunteering from similar positions. If there are 4 managers and all of them vounteer, they wont let all 4 go. They will select the 2 they want to leave
Positions that can be outsourced - all volunteers will be let go
