Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T advertising prospects

I’ve just read this article, could be redundant for those working under Lesser (or maybe not?!), but definitely a good read for the rest of us. Here you go, AT&T Advertising and Analytics – strengths, weaknesses and possible future:

Not the expert on the subject (obviously), but I found the tone of the article a little too optimistic, was wandering am I the only one?

Targeting advertising is the future. It makes no sense to market tampons to a post-menopausal woman, or payday loans to someone with investments in the stock market, etc, etc.

Facebook is in a particularly good place here. Advertising on that platform can be very tailored, getting an advertising more bang for the buck.

I have no idea how AT&T pulls this off on stuff coming from DirectTV, or Time Warner content resold on cable distribution networks.

On television over the internet, like Direct TV Now, they might be able to do something.

The company has been saying that they will be an advertising company, comparable to Facebook and Google, for years. It's good to see us really get some traction under the effort.
