Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

It's done for now

We now get at least a few weeks to relax and enjoy "job security," before we start the same rumor/deny/rumor/falls date/rumor/actual layoffs cycle.

What a fun time to be an AT&T employee, right? Who needs boring job security and good pay and raises and bonuses when we can have this exciting drama?

That's why they got rid of the coffee machines. Who needs caffeine when they can just scare the c-ap out of you periodically?

@UzQ5w8T-rcz, you are very misinformed when you're talking about the buyout. It definitely was not offered to everyone. It was offered to select parts of organizations where they looked for volunteers to take the buyout and chose from the pool of volunteers to fill their quota of [x] that they wanted for reduction. Other parts of organizations were affected by the recent surplus actions with no option for buyout, and other parts have not (yet) been affected at all.

:( At this point I keep hoping my number comes up in the surplus lottery but no such luck

What buyout offered to every employee?? I never got an offer. I can believe 20,000, since the company will need to get rid of 70,000 more people by 2020 to have let go of a third of their work force.

I hear the lay off will impact 20,000 employees.....bet everyone wishes they had taken the buy out that was offered to every employee recently! We were not given a buy out offer when we were laid off in 2016, good performance reviews don't mean anything, getting Star Performer or Key Contributor Awards mean nothing, neither does being top on your team on the 2020 training paths folks..... they make a list not sure what the criteria are but if your on it your gone, years of service don't even matter.... they have to absorb the employees from their acquisitions for a period of years and to do that they have to reduce the current dedicated employee count...... and believe me they could care less who it is!!!
