Where exactly in my post did I supposedly state anything whatsoever regarding the specific technology that you mention? Why mis-attribute such a comment as being authored by me?

@fqwx I am not fcja and am not siding with him/her for he/she is likely a troll, however RF monitoring is nothing new. The only reason the company has put recent efforts into such training is due to union pressure to properly train and the threat of attention from OSHA. Without this pressure I am sure they could care less if we all get cancer. I guess put simply the signage you speak of is there due to labor law, union pressure and liability reduction. This may change as the current regime would love to eliminate most safety in the workplace rules so that the country can revert backwards to a more Southern way of life, You are not wrong that there are RF exposure issues in 5G technology but there are in 3 and 4G as well. The difference is that more are aware due to the enormous number of less and less remote equipment locations needed to be wired and installed, In the past the equipment has been on roof tops and high peaks. 5G needs to be much closer to function, sort of right in the neighborhood.
@fcja, you seem to know how spectrum works. I do not. Why are techs being equipped with RF monitoring meters prior to approaching cell sites?
Why are techs being shown guides about how to work around various antennae, and the hazards that need to be avoided?
Why are warning signs of varying degrees being posted in the proximity of pole-mounted, roof-mounted, and tower-mounted antennae regarding acceptable approach distances?
Why, at certain RF levels are techs being instructed to have some antennae powered down prior to approaching them?
Why are techs with metal inplants being instructed to avoid some antennae?
I am awaiting an answer from you @fcja, though I am quite sure one will not be forthcoming. Do you know how spectrum works, or are you more familiar with the environment of your mother’s basement and trolling sites pretending to possess knowledge so as to be allowed to label people id—ts?

Lowell came on with the goal to break the union, and failed to do his real job which was build the company successfully. Hans is doing everything right from the start, extending the contract so he can concentrate on what he was hired to do, build the company.
@ 2tvx. Your faith in the American system is quite cynical. I am quite the cynic myself. That cynicism was proven warranted 15 years ago. The company in the past did exactly as you state they will and lost. They lost big. It was during Bush juniors reign. It was challenged at the highest levels of company and union. The company lost big time. Everyone affected was made whole with pay benefits etc. even those displaced by the waves of transfers due to the layoffs where all brought to their original locations and positions. The exercise was one of foolishness and waste. They learned their lesson and even worse for them the loss of their challenge of the interpretation of the contract language cements its meaning. There is no higher level to challenge it. They can't layoff pre 2003 members as a solvent company. They would need to go bankrupt eroding all shareholder value. It ain't happening as much as you might hope. If they could they already would have many times over. So why haven't they? Why go through all these motions? What are they doing playing cat and mouse? The cynicism in me says they lost and are just going to wait until we all age out and just leave with an EISP.
There is no way this 5g is safe for people, towns are already rallying against this. We shall see.

There is ample opportunity to react to the monitor before harm’s expected.

@2rbf, it is not a “meter”.
That’s an oft-used misnomer to those new to the RF working environment.
Those in the know instead refer to it as a monitor, detecting when RF reahes an intolerable, harmful level where cell damage is becoming more likely, in much the same way as a Geiger Counter detects radiation when those levels become problematic.

People are starting to question the RF Radiation that these antennas are gonna give off. Every transmitter now has to have a RF TAG below it and that will drive the fear just like it did in the EU countries. That should be interesting... Funny thing is that this company that is pushing 5g, now wants its employees to have RF meters, training and shirts RF tags like the one X-RAY technicians wear to monitor the exposure for those in a central office that broadcasts 5G. I just got meter from the company....
If it ain't at least 7G, its garbage.
OP When exactly are all these layoffs happening? You are kind of vague. You list 2018 and 2019. Half laid off 2018 and the other half of the force in 2019? I don't know it seems the 5G build wont be done by then. What about when a 6G build rears its head? Who will build that. I don't know. I smell troll.
After 2023 i will exit verizon and enter healthcare to help the millions 5G gave cancer to.

I would think 5G is the reason that Verizon gave a solid contract (let good or bad, be a union decision).
The company does not want the 5G build out to stop.
