Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Another stab in the heart by AT&T

Today, additional layoffs were announced at AT&T and although I was lucky enough to not be affected, I cannot help think about those that will be affected by 8/17 and will receive “pink slips”. My peers and some at least one of my employees will be affected. When I first started at AT&T, I was proud to be here, to be a part of something that I thought was so great... today, I feel like every day I am here is a privilege. I am so tired of waiting for the axe to drop, for the next round of layoffs that may affect me or more if my folks. This impairs productivity from all, even those who have given years of their lives for our customers, for the technologies we use and launch and for the almighty dollar... all for not, just to end up with a “pink slip”.

It is sad to see AT&T go down the drain as it has in the past several years while other wireless providers like T-Mobile are rising to the occasion. It is time for our CEO to go, he has made too many bad decisions that have cost AT&T billions, time for new blood that can will truly bring AT&T into the future.

LOL I ended up at AT&T because I got caught in T-Mo's every-other-year purge. Don't use TMo as a model, it's just as motley over there.

CWA is not involved. Today's 12% impacts lower level salaried folks.

Throughout the day we were hearing of what sounded like dozens of group conference calls notifying entire teams of pending terminations, but I cannot find a mention of it online other than this site, not even the CWA mentioned it.

My best to your employee and colleagues who lost their jobs. If there's any upside, they're being let go into a strong job market. I was laid off by AT&T in January and found a new gig within a month. (And I'm not a 20-something who will work for $15 an hour.) Don't feel guilty. Corporate layoffs don't follow any reason. Just support your workers and friends however you can, and start looking for a new job for yourself.
