Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Will this continue tomorrow?

I'm hoping they'll be done with it today, but you never know with them. Anybody here knows if we'll be seeing more of the same tomorrow?

This will continue in cycles. It will echo up then down and back again until headcount expenses are commensurate with earnings that make wall street happy. The shareholders own this company and the board is their representation. They can do whatever they damn well please. Right now they are squeezing a return on investment out. Employees are merely the cogs that spit out the cash. Lower levels are cut first, then area managers cut because they don't have enough people reporting to them, then directors, and up it goes. Span of control. This is not over by any means. This is your new world - get used to it.

I heard that this is it for this year. Early next year, we should have another round. And, of course, they will tell Wall Street before, as always.

Doubtful due to payroll date. RAN organization call held 2pm CST. less then 10% affected not enough takers on MVO package and need to make up difference all regions. They would not say how many took package or number of affected employees on call. WILL NOT BE TAKING ANY VOLUNTEERS THIS ROUND DUE TO MVO RECENTLY OFFERED. Individuals affected will receive surplus package in mid-August/ or within two weeks. Leadership will rank individuals based on skills, performance, leadership, experience, last years performance rating etc. Seniority is not taken into account. 60 day off payroll Oct. 19th, 30 day OPT out off payroll September 10th.

FYI - Beware of new vacation guidelines if use entitled per beginning of year versus what was earned you may owe restitution.Rep on call did state after question to look up guidelines on HR One Stop for accrual guideline.
