If any people who used to work in now closed Sam's Clubs check this page, can you please tell us what were the warning signs before you learned your club would be closing?
Any hints before you were notified that the store might be on the closing list? Did you see a sudden drop in sales? Inventory? Hours?
Any info would be helpful.
I agree with all that's stated, but the bigger signs started in December. The promotion that went o during Christmas. I can't even tell you what it was because we were not allowed to participate. Something about buying a membership and giving one as a gift? Well turns out all the stores that got closed were not allowed to participate in that during Christmas. Then yes absolutely the DC were so far between. If you Google Sam's clubs closings, it was done on January 11th of this year and on the same date in other years. Doesn't always happen that way, but that seems to be the date the use frequently.
DC trucks weren't coming in.
Does your club make money or lose money? If your club makes money your probably safe...
For the most part the two clubs in our market the closed we're pretty low in sales 50-70 mil, if you are working on a Sunday and youre doing 100k in sales that's a sign youre club is doing poorly.
ive been seeing our inventory levels drop a great deal over the past year ,,i feel like the writing is on the wall at our club..it has been running severly understaffed for some time now,,they keep cutting hrs and shifts saying we are over budget it makes no sense at all
The real tell tale sign is inventory levels drop , you will see a large amount of markdowns per category . Candy for example.. you’ll say gee, that’s really strange why such large markdowns in Candy. Inventory levels will lighten up. Then you will start missing trucks. When the day comes and you receive no DC trucks then it will be imminent . If the MM is a decent sort he will give you a heads up. If he was like ours he let you go until the end and you were caught by surprise. Not that you may not have suspected it, but let’s face it we do not want to accept it. Hope that helps.
