Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Suggestion to turn it around (will require more layoffs though)

No stock will rise unless overall revenue rises. Improving margins and shrinking revenue only mean ATT will go out of business profitability.

Suggest divesting DirectTV and Uverse landline immediately, except for the over the top software development. The satellite delivery is ancient technology and it is shrinking rapidly.

Sell off landline business.

Keep mobility, Time Warner. Thats it. Get rid of everything else.

The foundry is a joke. Nothing of any substance has come out of there. We tried to be google and it failed.

AT&T reminds me of Hewlett-Packard right before Meg started breaking it up and selling off pieces. I'm betting AT&T sells off it's business division within a year or shuts it down completely. And the Foundries and anything else to do with R&D. It'll keep wireless and devices, because that's how it'll deliver content. But everything else will be gone. No more product development. Just collecting and selling customer data, and ads, ads, ads.

Turn it around like Frontier you mean? Who would they spin Uverse or landline off to exactly?

There is a reason AT&T is so hated. Years of abusing employees and customers. That direction comes from the C suite. They are to blame for it all.

Greed s---s and karma returns favors. The company thinks its king (and at one time they were) but times are a changing and the continuous screwing of both customers & employees is coming back threefold. Even the usually positive Seeking Alpha now admits that the big t is in trouble. https://seekingalpha.com/article/4189781-t-trouble

Successful companies require growth to survive. AT&T does not and has not seen any growth in any business it owns for years. TW will not turn that around. However all the boys in the C suite will get their big paychecks and bonus' as long as their fake numbers meet expectations. T has now become the least transparent company to the investment community.

I believe AT&T would incur an expense to unload wireline. AT&T Wireline has the highest labor rate among all telecoms, that business is declining, and the territories are broad requiring a minimum number of managers/technicians. Also, wireline is the backbone of the wireless network. It is possible, but I have my doubts that AT&T would want to give up control of that, lease it back, and rely on another company for maintenance.

Time Warner was purchased to save their TV distribution. They'll increase prices to their competitors forcing people to switch to AT&T's media services. People are leaving DirecTV and Uverse by the bus loads because it's garbage. They're not switching to DTV Now. The growth you see is due to reps creating fraudulent accounts. Eventually that bubble will pop. It blows my mind that AT&T has not been investigated like Wells Fargo.

They have a number of competing businesses. They have landline telephone, wireless home phone, and Uverse phone.

They have Uverse television, and Direct TV.

They have Uverse internet, and wireless internet. If all this hype about 5G comes true, 5G will be competitive.

That sets the stage for a divestiture. It just waits for the 5G.

If you fail at running an established buisness, buy a new one. Lol. Won't end any better.
