A) Care to enlighten us as to just exactly who is going to buy wireline?
B) Even if wireline did get sold to someone, based upon what I've seen in the past with other corporations, an existing contract would still remain in effect for the duration.

You’re right, we are the minority in this company. But we also have pensions, layoff protections, great wages, and various other protections.
Now, if that’s the minority of the company, imagine what we’d ALL have if you guys had gone union also. You could’ve asked for the world because there’s no way they’d let wireless strike.
Alas, that ship has sailed, so “the minority” are the only ones with those benefits.

You’re wasting your time with that slug. When I first got hired by the company, if you had a problem with a coworker, you would go out in the yard behind the storage shed and have an “airing of the grievances”...when it was over, you shook hands and moved on. Everyone had respect for each other, even the two involved in the “grievance”. If you did that today, this younger generation would want to sue and get you fired. I think it all started when parents were no longer allowed to take a belt to their backside and instead had them go in the corner for a “time out”. You reap what you sow.

Its a good contract for the Union and Verizon. Why be negative? At some point in time even the Earth will no longer exist.
It's certainly not impossible that some more wireline gets sold. All of the former GTE stuff has gone to Frontier (including the sacred FL/TX/CA part which we "knew" would never be sold) and in the NE, the sale to Fairpoint of Maine, NH and Vermont (which worked out really well for Fairpoint!) And earlier the sale of Hawaii to Carlyle Group. But yes, the contracts would continue to be in force. But to the right buyer, that would be a positive, knowing exactly the exposure for the next several years. No idea if there is such a buyer though!
Why entertain a mommy's basement dwelling trolls delusion of an impending sale ? This being lives a mediocre life do to poor choices and should be pitied. There is no logic to his/her/its argument. If the idea was to jettison the Union workforce it would be easier to accomplish without a contract. The imaginary purchaser would then "just" replace the whole union force with its fully trained ready to go equally imaginary replacement. With a legally binding contract this becomes harder to accomplish, even in the fantasy world.

The 5 years now left on our contract would make it nearly impossible to sell now, it was even before it. Nobody wants an run down dinosaur. Now I can retire and not worry about losing my benefits for 5 years.

Well you are right! What promising business would ever buy the landline assets and get stuck with the bloated union work force? A buyer might tolerate the force for a few years, but would then replace union workers with a more efficient solution, which would not be hard to do.
