Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Jamie Barton Org Voluntary Surplus

Just got the email this morning asking for management employees to voluntarily leave the company with a enhanced severance package. Near the bottom of her email it talks about how many more of these will be coming in the near future.

The lingo is so confusing to me... what managers are being asked to leave?

Retail store managers or call center managers?

Thanks to whomever posted the text from the email. As I suspected, the wording is exactly the same as what went out to ATO management a month ago (literally... exactly, with only the specific org info substituted). If you read it carefully, note that there is no mention of any enhanced severance (contrary to what the original poster stated). "This offer provides severance and benefits"...you can expect the standard severance is the offer.

To put some scope on this the offer is for almost every mobility call in the inter states.

I was wondering if anyone could explain how the interest rate changes can affect the pension lump sum, and when this will occur

RE:

( Because of anticipated interest rate changes, it could result in a higher pension lump-sum amount for those who depart in 2018 )

@tob, its looks like the exact one we received (Sales) that expired 7/5. When does this deal expire and can you post the actual MVO message that came out later?

Team,

AT&T is swiftly moving towards being the world leader in technology and communications while redefining how our customers engage with media. Achieving these goals requires meeting our customers’ needs as efficiently as possible and over the last few years, Sales & Service Centers has led the way in this effort. The work you have done to reduce credits & adjustments, improve transfer rates & AHT, and increase utilization has been nothing short of amazing. In order to stay competitive, we must continue to look for ways to streamline our processes and operations.

Today, many of our Sales & Service Centers U.S. based managers will receive a message about a Management Voluntary Offer. This offer provides severance and benefits. It also complements the recent pension plan change that adds a full lump-sum payment option for managers in Legacy SBC (and associated companies) and Legacy T who didn't have the full lump-sum opportunity before. Because of anticipated interest rate changes, it could result in a higher pension lump-sum amount for those who depart in 2018.

For those who receive the offer message, I encourage you take the time to review it in detail. It’s a solid offer and package, especially for those managers who might have been planning to leave the business. If needed, I also encourage you to seek out financial guidance.

Our organization has seen numerous changes over the past few years and we can expect to see more as our business evolves to meet customer needs. Again, please be sure to review the information you receive about the offer so you can make the best possible decision for yourself and your family.

Thank you for what you do and your continued focus on our people, our customers, and our company.

Sincerely,

I too would like to see the email stating ‘enhanced’. Don’t believe it would be any different than what was offered to ATO as the previous reply states.

@yka I agree, if it was true they would post the text of the message here. it can be done.

I find the "enhanced severance package" hard to believe. Offer that recently went out to ATO called for standard severance (max 6 months). I can't imagine the company would be offering different management severance packages for different organizations. I hope I am wrong and you are right though. If they come with another offer that does have enhanced severance beyond the standard I think they will get a lot more people taking it.
