Surplused in 2016 within 21 months of "full retirement"

age 63 + 18 years service

6 months severance

six months unemployment comp

6 months co-paid COBRA then

12 months reg COBRA then

2 months ACA then

@age 65 Medicare + Social Security + ATT Pension

Never looked back

The "full retirement" carrot isn't worth much to one eligible for Medicare

if you have a login to any type of server it means you are lay off bait and off-shoreable. if all you know is excel and pass around to other managers then you might be able to stay as part of "the network."

Haha, people over 50 updating skills? You are a riot, I love it! Post ID: @UVTEmE9-4iqo

You have no idea how the network works. You think you enter some code and the connections to customers magically happen. Wow, it must be nice to live in that bubble.

Hey Rhandi, I see another "coder" that can be outsourced. Go get those synergies!

People over 50 may have updated skills if they plan to keep their skills updated and go to school & tech user groups & certification tracks. If people aren't into it then they will fall behind So sorry. I've done every decade of my own working life and never felt obsolete and never fired It's no guarantee against inept leadership s--- as is rife at AT&T but it it makes one more makertabke. People build their own career coffins

@UVTEmE9-1qld Wrong you are. That description doesn't exclude people over 50. It excludes anyone over 35.

Do you think is bad now? AT&T is including phrases like “new or recent graduates with multi code language degrees”, and seek ing applicants who are “digital natives in emerging technologies,” a category that excludes anyone over 50. How close are you?

Remember most Lvl 2 mgrs in ATO have no direct reports and are in technical positions. They have been getting cuts for yrs.

The company needs to incorporate product knowledge with the 2020 training so we can all help sell and make the numbers we need!

A lot of director-level meetings going on right now, every time that happens, layoffs follow. I think this is accurate.

i've heard some banter with the new ato prez -there could be integration of business and consumer areas. which would make sense, there is a duplication of each position and budgets are limited at best with the heavy debt burden. i'm not sure how the "business" side is surviving at all...they must be planning a surplus as well

Need to clear some desks and get some extra laptops for the H1B experts for 2019, that will work for less.

Its actually not less, most of the H1B staffing companies are someones brother or uncle in the C suite working as a middle man. Think about that

File under: Unfounded rumor and innuendo. And @UVTEmE9-tyc ---I am quite sure you don't work in ATO because you don't know of what you speak. There is a great deal of work. I would provide more detail, but I am sure it would just be a bunch of acronyms and technology terms that you don't understand.
