Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

WORK STEADY LAYOFF INEVITABLE

You can do all the work, do it the best, have the seniority. YOU ARE ON THE LAYOFF LIST! No matter what you think you can get it. We had some guys with over 40 years of service because they were not flexible to move ultimately the layoff made them retire. The company has tricks to get what they want.

If you work at at&t, dont listen to these cry babies with their tales of whoa..

Do your job, follow the rules, hope for the best. Stay the course.

Getting rid of union employees and instead hiring “management” non union IHX reps is union intimidation and needs to be brought up in court!

I cannot for the life of me understand how you craft types feel that the Union can/ should somehow prevent the company from laying you off. They are powerless to do so. "Needs of the business". The only thing they can do for you is to insure the seniority rules as laid out in your contract are followed.

For you at&t employees still working there it's not a matter of if it is WHEN you will get the pink slip.

If ibew came to my garage today I bet we would get a vote to switch. A big portion of my garage is fed up with being walked all over while the union collects our money and does nothing.

Yep...CWA really needs to put a foot down but the potential loss of dues is probably dictating. In my opinion, the CWA has dropped the ball and is allowing att to do pretty much anything they want. A union needs to be far stronger. Can you say IBEW?

I smell a walkout in the Midwest. They are really being bent over right now. Don’t even have a contract and being forced to 6 days. Where was this work before they laid off hundreds of our colleagues? Techs are ready, Union doesn’t have any balls tho.

Seniority Rules!, My general recommendation is to do as little as you can, stay average with you team, the Union loves that , and they will protect you. Going above and Beyond if yoiu are covered under a bargaining agreement makes not sense, since you are not going anywhere
