Too many layers of operation

Who else thinks there are too many layers of managers in operations?

Dept managers, market managers, club managers and so on...

The common thread: they all pass the buck and perk up to take good credit!

Streamline the layers and those who do the real work will become easily visible, good or bad.

Until then, the pyramid scheme will continue as usual.

The big picture problem is managers want to " manage" using their phones for everything! Yes the reports are good to see where your strengths and weaknesses are, but we have lost focus on sales and service. Getting so most are look at me, see what I did, look at my selfie, here is a staged picture on how great I am. Not many managers around want to roll up their sleeves and help to fix the issues, just want to take a picture and point blame to someone else. Not seeing the root cause of issues. Lost complete focus on the associates who create the sales and service.

Also well said. The obvious point here is clear , the Company is truly at the end of its life cycle. I stuck this out became s GM because it was fun, I loved the people I worked with the “ Foot Print” Mr. Sam left on our Company. Most of ALL , I respected my Bosses . They were Mentors , they understood the business. I ask any of my fellow Club Managers , do you respect these people??? I cannot stomach them. I do not hate the Company, quite the opposite I hate what has happened to us. Sam’s was a Soecial Place. Unique. It is no longer that Company. Think of the leaders you knew or grew up with. Now look at the quality of Leaders now. Gisel? Really?? Furner??

RGMs , Market Managers ?? Market Teams??

They are terrible people , they have titles, They are NOT Leaders!! Leaders trust, get to know their folks, help manage their Careers and YES cared for you as a person. Saw you as valuable! Can anyone say this of your Leaders this morning. I think not. Leaders Kead, they Protect their Teams , they do not throw you under the bus! These light weights not only will throw you under the bus , the will Drive it over you! Then back up and drive over you again!! Leaders Never behave that way, they inspire!!

Are you inspired this morning as you prepare to be thrown up on today!! Spend hours on Conference Calls that are no more than a b---s--- session by incompetents who can barely string two sentences together. Names not important. But they are not Professionals. They are Duversity Candidates or Political hacks and Yes men/ Women with no backbone , no leadership skills. We will visit your Club this week ? Who will be out terrorizing you and your team while you’re busting your a-- to do more with less every week! It’s sickening. As I get ready to leave today, the toughest thing for me, and all of us if you’re honest with yourselves is, we All know it does not have to be this way! It wasn’t that way once. We are not a better Company, we are not nnivators, we are grasping at straws doctoring numbers to look better Q to Q. Truth is we are at the end! I do not look forward to this week as in the past. This morning my Goal is merely to survive it until next week, without a terror attack from who knows who? Sorry friends it is just the truth and every one off us know it’s true. We feel it, we All know it. Get out before it really is too late!

Very well-spoken.

The non-believers and kiss ups will somehow think they are better and will be treated better. They are delusional.

This is a month to month dead/end operation that follows rather than leads.

Don’t wake up 5 years later. Life is short and misery loves AND keeps company.

Who you hang around and put up with says a lot about who’s YOU are.

Point is one back door visit or a--hole plane ride from any of us getting termed. Matters not the reason for whatever the deficiency or f you’re on vacation . No one can work like this and survive long term. This is just becoming tougher to stomach everyday. Sorry to be a downer. But after a week like last week no help more b---s--- a day like today it becomes very obvious to me!! Just my opinion!

Value of the MM / FMM or RGM levels it’s just ridiculous. The excuse is Clubs can it escalate without their skillful guidance. That’s total bull sh-- and any Club Manager , ASM, or TL know it’s true. Add in Pharmacy M, and Optical crew it’s a total Sh-- Show. The most successful operator in the segment . Yes Costco , has a Club Mngr after him/ her it is a RVP who reports to Divisional Exec VP who ultimately report to President . Clubs at the Competitor have Zero Supervison standing on their necks. Are our Teams as good? Who knows they with very very few exceptions ever get or had the chance. In Costco you own the god the bad and the ugly. You are Accountable but fully responsible to operate your business. It is a different level of trust and professionalism.

That grows Cnfidence Talent and people. Think about the quality of Market level personnel. It’s really embarrassing. It’s not the quality of Club Teams , it’s a mo--nic , archaic outdated culture, that is stifling growth , creativity and common sense . We who run Clubs all know this is Fact! Add to that our Good ole Boy inner Circle, yes Doug, John that would be Y’all. Let’s not forget the PC Police and Diversity over substance and talent and you have a mix for a very Toxic brew . This cannot attract viable talent any longer . The Company and anyone else know this to be so. The Sam’s shares OK if the budget is teal and you get there. Big If. Salaries for CM below Costco and in many cases Supermarket Operators.

The Sam’s Share is taxed to death treated as reg income. You are murdered in taxes then forced to pay at year end to address an inflated Gross earnings number so on balance it s---s! Rather Stock Options a 7500 raise yearly from Costco and a 40 % Max bonus is fine when you’re earning a base 125 Min to 160 and above!

Can’t pay expenses w possible Sam’s Share.

Great when it happens but should be extra.

Pay is grossly inadequate unless like older managers they were grandfathered in. Otherwise you don’t make want a premium pay Supermarket in Metro areas pays its ASMs. Much less GMs ... Company s---s. I have been looking seriously and at the very first chance I’m gone. Who wants to wait for next Bloodbath due anytime after we kill ourselves through the Holidays . Over worked, micro managed by ncompetent leaders who just do not understand Club Operations in the 21 st century. Do not accept realty.

Think of it this way, if you do not delay self gratification plan ahead , you will never be successful. This Company is playing Month to Month. BAG to BAG..No “ Road Map “ to the future!! None at all. If you’re drinking the Kool aid . I’You’re in need of a Savior. Unfortunately this Company I served 18 yrs is gone! I know it, just trying to hang in until a better opportunity arises. Even for less money. Peace of mind and less stress is worth more. This sh-- has become life threatening. We are all one black door visit or a--hole plane ride away from ending our Careers on any given day! Any GM being honest knows it’s true. As for the MM and Co they are the problem, and will never have solutions. Just point fingers blame you and throw your asses under the bus at the first chance or sign of trouble. Who have they ever helped?? Really..
