Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What is IHX?

Ok, i've been out of the loop for several years since retiring and am not familiar with yet another AT&T acronym. What does it mean and what do they do?

IHX is a cancer that must be stopped at all cost. They are commuting commission fraud on sales and the higher ups in IHX are letting it happen. Word is the IHX sales reps are targeting retail sales consultants sales and flipping them. The word is that it is as deep as technicians and IHX area managers. If you submit a wired sale the IHX rep is switching it to get credit from them. In California we are at a 60% cancellation rate and thr IHX reps are taking all the sales. So if you do DTV they change to Uverse And you don’t get your credit. Check your sales and if they get flipped go to a manager. My management team is fighting the good fight now but this might be nationwide.

How is this not soliciting. If a customer orders DTV that’s what they expect. Not some pushy sales person intruding to sell additional garbage. I had to ask one of these people to leave when I was present for my mother’s DTV install. The IHX guy was pushy and full of sh--. Gave the DTV installer a good laugh, he did say they make his job easier because the IHX people provide a distraction while he does the install.

Personally I would feel like an a--hole for going into peoples homes trying to sell phone plans. What’s next? T will probably add rainbow vacuum cleaners with a new plan.

I'm the original poster who asked the question and am now educated on what that acronym stands for and what the functions of the group are. Done right, this is a win-win for everyone. I'll never understand why there is so much negativity about a company that wants to increase sales and gain new customers in other areas of the business. This helps to insure jobs, salaries, etc. Once again, if it is done right, it is a win for all. (Btw, I was a tech for ~1/3 of my 40+ year career. I understand the concerns but, I also remember hearing all the pissing and moaning in the work centers too. It seems it is true -- there is nothing new under the sun!).

I am in IHX. Commission hasn’t been lowered we are actually paid more now for postpaid voice sales than before and we are hiring like crazy because our team is growing not because of turnover. Other people are just posting nonsense on here. Don’t believe me because of what I am writing here go look at the career portal and see how the position is going from what was 1000 experts nationally to 2000 experts nationally and now moving up to 3000 by the end of the year.

It’s essentially home soliciting that aren’t invited. You can call it door to door knocking but AT&T essentially working around the law and may even be violating it. They are using a pre-existing installation appointment for TV to try and sell other at&t service. The only go to houses that don’t have current at&t service.

IHX have nothing to do with directv installation. They don’t setup the dish nor connect it to the tv. The tech is actually the one that is supposed to show them how the system works. However due to the foot in the door...they will pretend to help you with tour television but reality is they aren’t doing it for anything for them selling you more.

Commissions have been lowered and they are at higher turnover then COR. To further prove it, hiring freeze is slated for next month but that could just be fake news.

IHX is a completely different organization than door to door. We don’t just walk up to someone’s house and try to sell them products/services. We arrive while a technician is in their home, review billing, setup apps and provide “white glove” service. During this time we bridge to wireless service and try to switch them from a competitor.

IHX goes to people’s home .. and knock on doors. They go from one door to another. But no it is not door to door because AT&T says it isn’t. Righhhhhhhht.

IHX is not legally allowed to go Door to Door. They do not have a license to do so. If they are you need to report it. You may be confusing them with contractors/ 3rd party. Those guys will promise anything to make a sale and we have to deal with it a lot in retail... 2 year pricing hasn’t been a thing for almost over a year now.

The door to door ihx reps always canvass neighborhoods and tell customers they get 2 year promotional pricing on DTV. They lie cheat and steal to get the sale and the whole neigborhood gets ticked off at one time and guess who’s the bad guy. The techs of course. Ridiculous!

In Home Experts are NOT Door to Door. Completely different sales channel.

It’s a newly developed (within the past year and half) sales channel that has management level sellers dispatched to jobs where VOIP, Internet, Uverse, and it DIRECTV being installed. They will show up to sub contractor jobs, in house, any one of them. They get dispatched to jobs where the customer has a competing wireless provider. The goal is to educate the customer, set up apps and most importantly sell wireless service to those customers with exclusive offers.

Done right it’s a great experience for the customer, technician and seller. Done wrong it’s a nightmare.
