Yes 50% of salary and health insurance coverage (at your current level and subsidy) for 6 months.... But to get that you have to sign a waiver giving up your right to sue for age discrimination... That said- I'm not sure how many people surplussed are over 40 and under 50, but there is something going on here.

I am a surplussed manager between 40-50 with years between 20-25 with the company... In checking the pension amount, it doubles when you hit 50 years of age (as it's then called a service pension instead of a vested pension)... The company is eliminating people like me en-mass to both save on pension costs and Health Insurance for retiree's... I've applied and looked for jobs within the company, I fear if you're at a certain age, you'll get passed over. BTW, I'm in RAN Engineering- yeah wireless, the same wireless that is supposed to be growing and where the company is "adding" positions...I'm not seeing it- it's all smoke and mirrors!

Horowitz vs. AT&T spells out what's going on and couldn't have said it better myself!

When managers are surplused you get severance (up to 6 months salary Max, depending on service tenure).

You are also typically offered the option of staying on for 3 weeks (early leaver), or taking 60 days to search internally for a job. If you are offered a position of equal level and relocation is not required you must accept the offer. If you do not, you have in a sense resigned and forfeit your severance pay.

This for exempt management, not sure about Union workers and related Union contracts.

There is no "buy out". There is no longer any enhanced pension offer or anything like that. They do offer severance in accordance with the management severance plan (it is not 50% for everyone, you must have at least 13 years NCS for 50%, and it goes down from there depending on years of service that you do have).

The max severance pay for management, depending on years of service, is 6 months of your current salary. I volunteered to retire/leave at the end of 2016 and that is what I got and I had in excess of 30 years of service.

Plus, when they get notified, they can stop working... so it's like an extra 60 days of paid time off. I did it when I got the boot.. They notified me actually a few weeks before the 60 day mark... I cancelled all my meetings and did not come into work anymore. So in addition to the 50% payout, I got 2 1/2 months of paid quote time off....

It used to be up to 100% of annual salary, but under Randalls Stephens regime, it was cut to 50% a number of years ago, because, well - he must have known in his heart, he was not the leader to grow the company. Not a positive vision!

Not sure to what level of management it applies but I can confirm at least for first level management it’s up to 50% of your annual salary depending on years of service. Full policy can be found on HROneStop.
