Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Beware of monitoring software...

Our group in ATL had to download some type of software on our pc last week that supposedly detects every key stroke we make, as well as which websites we go to , or programs we use. Just another way to get rid of people. Our work has doubled, and we are all very stressed as it is. I honestly believe the company is trying to make us reach our breaking point and quit without having to lay us off and pay any money.

If you have a personal phone with AT&T and get an employee discount, AT&T can and will if they have a business reason, look at your calls…. Only if you use your personal device for business use

You are a little paranoid. Your work has doubled, so instead of just thinking they want you to do twice the work for the same pay, your logic is they are trying to get rid of you.

I don't get the point of employees working for a multi-million networking / IT company complain about a software. Are you kidding me?
If we would be so dumb, we all could easily work for a food-chain store instead of IT. Every single college of mine is able to disassemble that software to bits and pieces, basic elements and see the functionality within few minutes.

This has nothing to do with spying on people. This is a nice example of lame management, buying a lame software for a lot of money, which is just a total waste. I bet stock-holders will not like this at all.

If you have a personal phone with AT&T and get an employee discount, AT&T can and will if they have a business reason, look at your calls. Legal decided the employee discount gives them that right. A business reason can be if you call in sick and are suspected of being some where other than home

Don’t use work hardware and software for personal use and you’ll be ok. My boss (area manager) has shown me the logs collected of me and my peers I cannot believe some of the sites they’re going on and they have smart phones!

Craft (union) has had this software on their equipment for years. Every screen and mouse move is recorded in real time and saved for a minimum of three months and generally six months. The company phones are also recorded and synced with the computer. If you plan to use a different phone, you better not have a voice ID on file to gain access to any system. Call centers know that several agents are selected each month to be reviewed for improvement and coaching. The screens and voice can be searched by text or selected voice words. Minimal violations are ignored to keep management unaware and the employee is only informed at the exit interview about the "chance" observation. I do not recall the software, but checking every app running in the task manager processes will identify. I am retired management.

Yes of course we are being monitored and have been for quite some time. Just not of this magnitude.

What kind of dummies haven't figured out that everything they do on corporate pc's is already monitored? You are employed at will. Do yourself, your family and your health a favor and go get a new job.

Not sure what kind previpus poster has, but ours is iDeskOp. Runs in the background and is hard to find on your computer.
