Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Best people quit if they do not trust their boss.

Does this sound familiar???

Best people quit if they do not trust their boss. Integrity is by far the most important asset of a leader. Published Aug 15th, 2018 by Oleg Vishnepolsy

Deal-breaking behaviors that break trust and make best people quit:

1) False promises to get someone to do something, e. g. to accept a job or a responsibility

2) Plagiarism of someone else ideas and credit-taking for someone's work

3) Lies of omission to withhold relevant information.

4) Spreading rumors to damage someone’s reputation.

5) Cheating to get a financial or positional advantage.

6) Misrepresenting own accomplishment to make oneself look better at expense of others.

7) Favoritism and nepotism

8) Not appreciating loyalty, talents, honesty, hard-work of others.

9) Treating others as if they can not be trusted - not believing them, micromanaging them, not trusting them to do their job.

10) Blaming others for own mistakes

Once the trust is broken, there is no way back. Counter-offers do not work, promises do not work.

Because loyal, hard-working people's loyalty can not be bought with money.

They act with integrity, and expect it from others.

I decided to retire because my boss was telling people I didn’t need the job (he was right) it’s good to have land!

Jack Duffy, worst kind of management!, AT&T managers encouraged employees to use lies, manipulation to sell DirecTV Now subscriptions, then fired them.

IT IS SIMPLE, Only people that have nothing to offer, have to put up with Toxic T, plenty of great companies out there, better benefits & salaries, more flexibility.

I see it everyday at AT&T. The good people with integrity leave because they can not and will not produce the numbers those without scruples do. Fraud is secretly promoted and now those managers with no integrity hire the people they most see themselves in. Eventually the sales force will have a cesspool of talent reminiscent of the after affects of a high school football team's White Castle challenge. COR is already being positioned to be discontinued and outsourced to AR's. The good and decent AR's will be weened out and the bad practicing, big AR's like Spring and Prime will take over. But they will eventually go chapter 11. So this will lead to everything being done through self service / online purchasing / support. That of course, is if there's still an AT&T at that point.

@rbi, I’m sure you meant to include heavy email documentation as well....get it in print, but a point well made and thanks for validation that it’s not just a ‘Boys Club’ out there.

Thanks to the OP for telling many what we already knew but keep silent and under our breath.

To @lev, sorry Grasshopper....as it is written, so shall it be.” Every generation that has come before you & I (Boomer & Millenial) has had the same star struck belief how things will change. You know what happened? Work, a pay check, bills, car payments, mortgage, medical insurance, property taxes.....like the lady said, “join the flock.”

To @lev, respectfully you are wrong on sooo many levels where should I begin?

I am a woman, w/ 30+ experience, yes an “old timer” to be sure and proud of it. Am I a sheep? Perhaps!

I have worked in multiple facilities over those years with mostly Millenial bosses in the later half and most of them part of the “Women’s Club.” That’s where #7 (Favoritism) fits in. Close bonds are forged and when cut time approaches, certain weight is given to a friend.

2 rings hard with me. Nothing worse than holding a conference call with a manager 2 levels above me and listen to them pitch an idea that was mine, that i pitched to my immediate manager....a Millenial.

3 Lies of omission costs me time & effort to complete my tasks. To anyone reading, do most of your question asking in Q, otherwise it’s a she said/she said and you will lose, but Always Document....never delete old info, it can be your backup in a pinch.

4, #6, #7 (as earlier stated) #8 all apply to some degrees.

10 is a biggy, it’s not exclusive to Millenial, but like many viruses they are definitely carriers.

In the Managers M---acre of Oct 2016 this sheep was led to slaughter by the above numbered statements, my female Millenial manager took the bow, my inside connections told me what I didn’t want to know, but needed to. I landed another spot with some effort.

@1lev states the belief that the OP’s reposted article is incorrect...., “these people are long gone. One bright spot for the Millenial generation, we do not put up with this insanity in the long haul.” Obviously said by someone without mirrors in their home....cut me a break, when your Manager is stalking you for results....you become a SHEEP! You become a yes man, or woman....you have not, can not and never will change a large Corporate system....stop beating your chest and join the flock!

the people that OP talks about are long gone, as for the other old timers that remain, "they are the sheep", one bright spot for the Millennial generation, "We do not put up with this insanity in the long haul", we are responsible for our own happiness
