Finally I have seen a short, spot on reply from @iez....and he/she says it quite well, read it!
We were set up to fear AT&T (our own boss) from the very day we got wind, in print no less, of an 80,000 employee cutback, a death by a thousand cuts (Surplusses) over a prolonged march to 2020.
We were told to retrain, learn and be a part of the company moving forward. But many of us, with great reviews year over year got invited out the door while we watched new jobs pop up multiple time zones away, or watching less qualifieds hang off the bosses hip.
The hardest betrayal was the $1000 (let’s call it the shiny object) they wanted to place in the pockets of those same soon to be ex T’s....how do you not get angered by this? How do you not see a cartoon figure of Randy reaching into both pockets, handing out money in one hand and a pink slip from the other?
Quarter after quarter after.....you get the idea, we are forced to watch the AT&T lottery and it takes a toll mentally and perhaps physically. And we don’t know that it will stop after 2020.
The well being of the employee, and their family are watching every move T makes.....if you surplussed the employee, you surplussed the family and it does take a toll!
