they won't use artificial intelligence because it would be smart enough to lay off just about everyone level 3 and above

@1xqu: Network Force Load Analyst is what Maintenance Administrators (“MA’s”) used to do but they’re a management title. It’s a position that will probably go away soon along with the MA title due to automation. They ensure installation and repairs for u-verse, dtv, and pots/dsl are routed to techs properly and are getting done.

I was let go from ATO in the April Surplus. I was fortunate enough to find another job before my last day at AT&T (in fact, I started my new job the very next day!). I was very sad because I LOVED my job, but I wasn't mad - there was just no point in wasting my time and energy being mad. To be honest, I was SO RELIEVED to not be worried about losing my job anymore that it was actually hard to be mad - that's not to say I won't lose this job, but at least it's not hanging over my head like it has been for the past six years.

To all those who got the news today... my deepest sympathies. =( If you were fortunate enough to have been with AT&T for as long as I was (or longer) be aware that when you start your new job elsewhere, the one thing I was not expecting was what it would feel like to not be GREAT at my job any longer. I was with T for 14yrs... just 26yrs old when I started and 40 when I left - I knew EVERYTHING about my job when I left. So,

looking for a job and having to learn a new position all over again, was CULTURE SHOCK! I literally GREW UP at AT&T and when I left, I knew how to do my job REALLY REALLY WELL. So when I started looking for another job and when I arrived at my new job, I was pretty much "workplace r----ded" and being the "newbie" was quite depressing - I didn't really know anything other than what I had done for the past 14yrs. I had to quickly accept the fact that I was no longer GREAT at my job - in fact, I felt like I really s---ed at it for the first few weeks simply because it had been 14yrs since I had been forced to learn a new job. Now that I have accepted that it's going to take me a while to get GREAT at my job again, things have gotten much easier to deal with, but I really wish I'd known to expect that when I started.

To those asking about the LOCATION of these layoffs... the report that is given to those impacted does not give locations, only titles. Legally they have to release the titles and numbers impacted to all those impacted, but names and locations are not given.

"Network Force Load Analyst: 29" - sounds pretty much accurate (I left in 2018 but still have friends over there)
