Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

T

I am a care rep and I receive at least 10-20 complaint calls a day about how at&t has been going down hill for the past year. These are customers that are asking how much to quit at&t and go to Tmobile, I try to convince them to stay but usually they are already at the Tmobile store and have a rep next to them. I know we are not suppose to, but I save the accounts to look back to see if they canceled and 9 out of 10 do. I am well aware of our new customers coming over from other companies, but they don't stay long after being lied to by the sales people on what their bill will be. I is discouraging to say the least, how can we convince the customer to stay when they were lied to. The sales reps conveniently leave out the taxes, and insurance, and sometimes the full device monthly charges when they give the customer what their monthly bill will be. I have been with at&t for many years, but I dread going to work these days. I am actively looking elsewhere for a new job, I will miss many at at&t however, I am not even sure at&t will make it through this rough patch. My advise is to have your resume' updated just in case. For the ones that are retirement age or have been with T for at least 15 year you should take the offer as I do know for a fact that it will be gone soon.

Well I was not going to put my future in T's hands, when the option came up to go to Apple I was out the door. Stay and take your chances a layoff may not happen to you but do you want to wait around and find out?

I am a former T employee, I recently quit and found a much better opportunity. I recently switched to TMobile, and for good reason. The promotions, incentives, and transparency make people happy. The rest of the world is capitalizing on T's mistakes and focus on becoming a monopoly. T will not need government interference this time around, but instead will run themselves into the ground. The employees are all foreign id--ts based in Mumbai or the Phillipines. Guess what, you call T mobile... American or Canadian.

I know this, just like owning property it may lose value but, if you hang on to it long enough you will make a profit. Same with ATT , if you survive the cuts there will be a nice fat buy out some day in your future. You just have to be a survivor.Randy says you get to stick around if you make yourself Relevant ! So start Relevanting !! Hohoho !

Not for nothing but look at the type of people at&t is hiring. I have been with the company for 8 years and i remember the day of suit and ties. The professionalism that we carried everyday. That went far with our customers. We also had a lot more ability in store to handle mistakes made by employees. Which back then was not as crazy as it is now but would happen and could be fixed in the store. Now we have to get approval from our ARSM now before we can even do a $10 credit. Which leads us calling into RST who cant speak english and has no idea what to do. The simple days of selling are gone. Now we hire very unprofessional people. Idk if its the new wave generation or what but i remember the days when it was almost impossible to get a job at at&t now anyone off the street can be hired

Retail and ihx never take care of their mistakes they just tell the customer to call care to credit the account! Sometimes retail even calls us directly to ask for credits! You have the same access we do!

This was too hard to pass up. You think it’s just sales that lie? In retail, every day we get nonsense from CARE! “Customer service said I could swap my insurance phone here” “CARE said you could waive all my down payments” and my favorite “CARE said the warranty was up to the manager of the store and you could override the one year”

Shut up you useless, uncultured swine.

@UJb5bCL-pin What? Call Center Executive? What the hell is that? A CEO or CFO over the Call Center? He (or most likely you) said that he or other reps should take the package. No where on this board has there been mention of a union call center voluntary package. Of course you changed the narrative that “management (Call Center Executives 😂) “ were offered a package. Fine you like T-Mobile, go shout from the ceilings that you love them. But as you continue to post that fake nonsense here, I will continue to call you out.

This last quarter at&t had the lowest postpaid churn of the major carriers so our disconnects are actually not that bad

Ihx is the worst of them going door to door telling people thay still get 2 year price locks and internet even when fiber isn’t there or puts in orders for speeds you can’t even get and we are the ones yelled at when we install it

Bargained for employees might have language in the contract for offers to volunteers in the event of a surplus, particularly core employees.

Read those contracts.

to @UJb5bCL-hxe -- you need to educate yourself, you are probably one of the people that are praying to be laid off. Geesh, fyi, call center executives, and managers are being offered the deal as well.

Sales reps do lie to AT&T customers. As a Prem Tech, I've seen sales lie as what is included in the Package. Happens all the time - everyday. When the Tech gets there to install the service, what the customer was promised is not on the order. Cx cancels, tech submits a service escalation or tech installs what the cx wanted but no guarantee they get a lower price. Frustrating for Techs, as we are on the frontline and face of the company.

When there are not enough volunteers, fear and hostile work area will increase the number. A care rep would not know about HR's plans. This could be a manager creating fear.

@UJb5bCL, you told an interesting story, and perhaps every word was spot on true. Many posts and replies are just conspiracy theories, angry rants with no proof with a Troll in the background.

If you’re last sentence, I’m presuming you are talking about the severance benefits, is to be believed....”you should take the offer as I do know FOR A FACT that it will be gone soon.”.....I need your inside intel.

Speculation is meaningless to me, I could easily do that as well myself. What do you know that we don’t, and how do you know it? Otherwise, back to the ‘troll hole’ you go!
