Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

overlapping 1st line management jobs

overlapping managements must be reduced drastically. all they do is babysit and work escalations that techs eventually end up working on. layoffs must come at the 1st line level before techs are reduced.

Funny when all our managers are gone work gets done, things run better! They know nothing of our job, a admin assistant could do the paperwork they do what a waste of money!

So many frustrated, bitter, angry, bargained for types on this site. You've got every manager figured out; every single one you've ever dealt with is a major POS, with no brains, nothing to offer, and you have nothing good to say about any of them. Don't you understand that this makes YOU sound like an a-hole? Never mind, forget I asked that. I know you don't understand 1rzz. Grow a pair. If you've got it all figured out why don't you join management and fix everything? Don't bother answering, I already know the answer.

I do not work for AT&T but I do deal everyday with them in my daily functions. I can say this with 100% confidence that AT&T Management Chronic mediocrity is a symptom of ineffective leadership, not anemic personnel, so let's don't blame the employees please!

The keyword is babysit. Yes you can reduce the number of 1st line managers, but then who will provide tech support and oversight to the technicians that 1) have no initiative to learn. 2) think the company pays them to be on the job, but not necessarily to work. 3) say, "that's not my job." 4) retired in place. 5) barely can operate a PC/tablet. 6) can't keep their driver's license current. 7) disgruntled about everything in the world, and the list goes on and on...

Don’t recall any 2nd lines being exceptional at anything. There was one I thought was ok but he got chopped of course.

A lot of do as I say not as I do from their holes when they decide to grace us peons with their presence.

Standard features of a 2nd line are as follows:

they’re usually fat, firm disconnect with workforce, zero expertise, complete lack on how anything works field wise, claim to know the job just because you went to the training but never done anything remotely close to it (except for those dolts that like to mention they were techs for 6 months), blame all problems in the field on 1st lines and techs, say you’re gonna fix things but never do, deny techs paid days off even when requesting weeks out, make folks wonder everyday how the hell you have this job!?!?, plan stupid waste of time code and other trainings that screw up the work load, think it’s a good idea to have no nights techs so day crew is forced to help clear everyday instead of being off on time to go home and be with our families (but you will make sure you’re home and have your weekends), be on the cutting edge of new cheating numbers methods, and finally...put your supreme incompetence on display for the whole yard to witness during tailgates...speaking like you know but we all know you’re full of it.

You guys are a merry go round. They all get shuffled every 18 ton24 months or sooner if they get in twouble.

However, I’m sure VPs are worse.

1B managers are mostly exempt.

1st line managers are salaried and do the real work. 2nd line managers do nothing but micro manage 1st lines and in addition to salary receive huge bonuses. They need to all go. They serve no real function and contribute nothing.

Managers will see more surplus. Especially once borderless routing starts. Small garages will be shut down and techs will be dispatched where they are needed and managers will be reduced to bare minimum.

@UFX52Cu-tqm - Most 1Bs are non-exempt as far as I know, and therefore hourly. If anything they would rather get rid of the 1st line managers so that all of the remaining work could be absorbed by the salaried L2s with no overtime payout.

2nd level has to go... 1B management are the slaves of all the management. They do all the work, the 2nd level managers just "delegate" tasks to all their 1b employees. They are overworked, underpaid and definitely no OVERTIME!

Every 2nd line should go first, they are useless.
