UBDpHWg-3smy If true I will volunteer too. Any idea what the terms of the buyout will be, same as the standard severance package?

As a heads up, please don't blame Tier Two. I used to know a lot of people there because there used to be a lot of people there. The workforce of 75 highly trained and motivated techs has dropped to about 15 and most of the work has been moved offshore or automated. That entire internal helpdesk has been absolutely decimated over the last few years. Tier 1 used to be domestic as well until they cut all of them a few years back. Only a matter of time before the few that are left get cut as well.

I’m hearing rumors that Verizon is offering a volunteer buyout for management next month and if they don’t get the numbers needed they are doing another rif in November. If they offer I’m out.

@UBDpHWg-3oqt - I think people DO "care" about losing their jobs...

My center went from 2 offices to 1 in a matter of a year. I even witnessed a consultant have a nervous break down when asked to have a development session. Management is looking for any reason to discipline anyone. We are understaffed due to many people not coming to work to avoid the riffs. I am proactively looking for a back up to lan because the future seems dim.

People just expect it don't ready care anymore. No need to get worked up over it.

we cant enough support from Tier Two and more of the responsibility is shifted to the untrained Center techs... Its hard to see Verizon feed on itself...

What's even left to layoff in IT? Honestly, outside of an incredibly small contigent of Tier 2 support hanging on by a thread at the call center and EUS guys, who could even be cut?

Either people are over it and just assume they're next or they just don't care.

Which departments / jobs were effected?

Contractors have been axed at my location, all gone by beginning of September. Any new positions in my team being filled in Cary NC. Hope I make the next RIF. Sick of working harder because MGMT routinely cuts to inflate their numbers so the investors (which ironically includes many managers/directors) get the proper payout.

It happened to many dedicated people. Maybe not much on here since it happens so often now that it has become expected. Good luck to all those impacted, look forward to your next adventure.
