ATO is another business unit within AT&T. It's the business unit that owns/runs the networks and clouds. As someone else said, look up Melissa Arnoldi in Webphone and trace her organization upward to see how at the executive level it's parallel to your org (mobility & entertainment).

I was just on a call that told use ~2000 people took the offer. My boss is one of them. It's around 6-8%.

Non-collaboration centers will be hit the hardest.

Something to keep in mind, volunteers can revoke their election up to July 30, by Noon that day. So actual numbers will not be known unti then.

Does anyone know how many volunteers they got? Why would they wait until August to announce? I’m sure they have a ‘list’ ready to go to make the number.

Those August dates in OP are Monday’s...typically notification calls and announcements are on Friday afternoons around here, and last day on payroll falls on EOM. Since last day to accept voluntary offer was 7/5, I would think Supervisors of non-voluntary groups would be notified within a few weeks, then announcements on a Friday In August, last day on payroll either end of Sept or Oct.

Oh wow. I used to work in ATO, too. That was a crazy time. There was so much back-stabbing, treachery, lying, and the job got harder and harder as it got more and more confusing. I wouldn't be surprised if they outsource the entire organization.

I am in ATO and never hear rumors! So far my org has not been hit but job title changes are not out of the question. Wondering if they are streamlining in order to hit certain titles. Anyone else hear dates for calls? Last day to accept voluntary offer was 7/5, so a call on 7/19 would sound reasonable.

Go to Webphone and search on attuid ma5306. That's Melissa Arnoldi, she is the Presdident of ATO (AT&T Technology Operations) Everyone under her is ATO. ATO is not a person, it is largest departments/ business units at AT&T. And I think we're about to get whacked, hard.

Thanks for the info. I originally heard conference calls were going to happen on 7/19/18. Also heard it is going to be a bloodbath. I can definitely tell it's coming. My team is getting hammered with work but can't seem to get anything done. We're not being given the info needed to complete even basic tasks. It's very frustrating. I have been in huge layoff situations before at other big companies but this time it is very strange and feels so dark due to all of the underhanded, shady, despicable and nasty ways the powers that be have done to destroy not only to a once reputable company but employees that worked hard to help make the company what it used to be. I work on the best team in ATO. So sad that we were not used to our full potential. It's time to move on and hopefully find a company that truly respects and appreciates their employees. Going to be hard to find one.

Directv orphan here - but what exactly is an ATO?

One dude calling himself an "ATO" showed up at our shop over two years ago - said "hi", handed out some day-old donuts and we never saw him again. Now, I constantly read references to "ATO" on this site and still wonder - WTF is an ATO?

Thanks for the heads up. I was expecting this to happen after they announced a voluntary layoffs a month or so ago.

I was ATO non-bargained & volunteered in 2016 due to age-related discriminatory practices and piss-poor leadership. Top to bottom, a bunch of scared bunnies spending their days justifying their existence. I'm sure glad I did it. Great severance package, unemployment insurance, COBRA, and a growing pension benefit until I had to take it. I guess there's no viable age-related class action suits at the moment. Oh well, life is good!
