I still have not heard what Oath is. It cannot be a Facebook or Google or Netflix.

OATH still has many 'dial-up' modem customers left over from aol. How scary is that? Oath doesnt know what Oath is. I don't think that the company knows either. Rumor has it that Oath and their chief wanted to go their own way. Should be an interesting road ahead.
@3mkd ... I remember when Bell Atlantic and GTE merged and the local radio station during its news segment announced the name of the the new company as being Verizon. After the news, one of disc jokeys made a comment along the lines of 'gee, now that name sound like a hemorrhoid ointment". :)
Oath is the 2nd stupidest name for a Verizon venture. The award for the first would go to ISIS which was a bust until Google Wallet bought it.

The joke always used to be Verizon was successful in spite of itself. Its not a joke anymore.
Not surprised to see OAF on the block; it needs to go and one can only hope Verizon will usher it out the door and completely away from the company. Verizon really should not want to hold any shares in this company and frankly, I doubt the OAF CEO wants to have a company that has any management or guidance from Verizon. Verizon needs the 10 Billion to work down the debt; with Hans at the helm paying down the debt may well happen. Let's hope.
Marni’s downfall had as much to do with delivering zero new products for the core business as Oaf.

Oath has lots of talented people. If they are smart and truly talented, they will move on to a company with a future. AOL and Yahoo have been dead for 10 years.
What else can TA say? He wants to be a very distant third in the market? “I am happy with 2% market share”. His whole reason for being at vz is to grow Oath to generate significant revenues.
But how can he possible do that while chained to vz? He will never get distribution beyond vz devices and channels. Even the Samsung distribution deal had to be revised something like three or four times. The only way for Oath to really grow is to be spun out of vz. But the problem with that is without VZ’s deep pockets, Oath will not have the money to buy any good content. It is just AOL and Yahoo, after all. So they are basically screwed.
Best of luck to them, but getting bought by vz only put them of life support. Pull the plug, spin them out, let them die on their own.

Unless you know the people personally at Oath, I suggest you don't input ignorance because it is apparent based on your comment. You have no clue on their capabilities and the extremely talented people that do work there. I think you're intimidated by their knowledge because most of them are very knowledgeable. If you read up on them you'll discover some of the amazing concepts they have come up with. The technology world is very competitive, something you seem not to know. Turn in your badge, you don't deserve to be an employee. At least show some intelligence by investigating first before you put your foot in your mouth.
