IT ED here under an NDA, sending out a heads up. The company is looking into outsourcing jobs heavily, especially in IT and Call Centers. These are not rumors. You will be outsourced to the lowest bidder, and most likely let go months after that without severance. If you can find something now, take it. If a RIF comes out between now and November, TAKE IT. You will not receive your 2 weeks for every year if you are outsourced! Agreements with outsourcing firms are going to take place in August - you've been warned!

Just google ibm/verizon. Ibm has a nice page dedicated to their partnership with verizon.
Verizon will be focusing on core competencies. Billing systems, websites, retail systems and data centers are not a Verizon core competency. Verizon will focus on the telecommunication business and the technology that is associated with it's core like '5G' and IOT. Systems like VISION billing and MY VERIZON will be outsourced to companies who core competency is managing systems.
Either you do work or look out side ... wow .. why are looking in this site ? If you already know about rumors.
VDSI IT as well as all of VES to be stripped out to IBM.
Wouldn't surprise me but this has been a threat for years. Old rumor was IBM or Infosys with a 1 year transition period to basically train your replacements.
Agree with whoever said if you are worried about it start looking otherwise just keep working. Life in VZ IT is basically contractor work anyway
Guys, get back to work. Nothing's going to happen for few months and no news going to be out too. Don't waste your time on rumours. What's bound to happen will happen. Either do your work or look outside. Period!
One of the SME in my VP group is ready to quit. He volunteered for RIF couple of time but didn't get it. If he leaves, few more will also leave because without him it becomes that much more difficult to handle the day-to-day issues! He is a vast treasure house of business and systems knowledge that nobody can currently match! If that person is RIF'ed, the supervisor can plan the transition but his position can not be filled! If he resigns suddenly, the position can be filled but transition will be a nightmare! It will be interesting to see how this pans out!
Heard from a reliable source today that the Project Manager from one of the IT outsourcing projects quit last week, without a package. Is the outlook really that bad?
I believe this to be true. A couple of weeks ago at my call center they had managers fromRicoh come in, did this whole presentation and meeting with them and sit with a bunch of the tech reps while they were on calls. Even ifRicoh doesn’t do the outsourcing it means they are starting to look at it and we are already a small tech support group. This is for wireless btw.
"Dunne has not said where he is off to next, but El Reg wonders if he may be heading for a certain popular outsourcing biz - given his preference for Capita over joblessness."

Every single group is being sold down the Ganges river. CS chat is moving to mainland India for the first time ever. We are in exciting times.
You only need to google Ronan dunne and O2 to verify that this is true. Why do you think verizon hired him??? Because he did this to O2.
This is not a rumor- the company has restated several times cutting 10 BILLION in 4 years.
VZ Battle Royal - the circle is contracting time to move.
Do you know if it's all of IT or only certain groups? Rumors have been flying around for months that it is primarily EUS and other service-based IT groups.
