What is the pont of IHX? All they do is drive around activate phones that are free and dont have to pay for while we in stores have to work our butts off until 8pm!!! Mean while ihx rep gets off at 3 every day talking to a couple people and give away stuff and send people back to us for theyre service problem!!! All to take union jobs away!!!!

I would say live a day in the life of a IHX rep before making judgement
Have a good friend who went to that role and he worked his butt off. 50-60 hours a week including weekends and well into the night. They have to be there when the customer has their spouse there and many times it’s after 5pm.
It’s not that great of a job for what they make

Seriously most them used to be managers that transitioned. Why would T unionize it? It’s a temporary channel that will be gone in 4 years. The eventual goal is to move the Satelittr customers over to DTV now.
As others have said stop worrying about this issue that impacts less than 1/10 of a percent of ATTs workforce and let’s talk layoffs. By 2021 T will layoff ballpark of 20-25% of the workforce. I would be more worried about that than IHX. Or that out of the last 3 union contracts signed 2 of them have lowered the min employee headcount. Opening th the door to make Ts workforce smaller.

LMFAO...good thing you’re a tech and you don’t need spelling skills. If an IHX rep is doing their job right, they should be selling AT&T wireless service to non-customers. At the end of the day, wireless pays the bills. Subscriber growth is good for everyone.

Agreed, this does not help people looking for layoffs.
IHX is a smart desperation play by T leadership.
It’s a low cost mode to churn out voice grass ads, it’s only going to be around for a few years, as cord cutting becomes the norm.
Stop worrying about IHX and focus on T, it’s eventual goal is to drive up profitability by massive layoffs by 2020-2021.

First of all if it is such an easy job why don’t you give it a try? I have seen top performers transfer from the store fail miserably at IHX, and go begging back. It is extremely difficult to convince a customer to switch wireless service when they have no reason to. If you are a happy customer with current carrier why would you switch? I have worked in the retail stores for years, anyone can do it, stand by the door wait for a customer to come in and ask to buy. To be a top performer in the store all you have to do it stay up front and help customers. It takes a really good sales person to be successful in the IHX role. Also check your numbers in IHX vs Retail and see who brings in the most gross adds, we crush retail. The point is we get customers that would never walk into your store anyway, if anything we are helping build the customer base that would come to the store in the future for additional services and accessories. These Verizon/T-Mobile/sprint/straighttalk customers are customers no one would have the opportunity to sell to otherwise.

Listen people- WHO CARES? They can jack off half the day on their salary and are probably doing more than upper management.
And get used to it- THEY WILL BE AROUND AWHILE- BUT NOT FOREVER. Everything T “innovates” falls to sh--. If you’ve been around a few years you’ve seen this time and time again.
GET OVER IT ALREADY. IHX IS HERE. Beat them, join them- but shut the F*** UP about it.
