Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Good advice from an old-timer

When I started working for Follett in 2001, I was impressed with the number of Follett associates that had 20, 30, and even 40 years experience...it was one happy family. As a regional, I knew that experience, results, and relationship building with students, faculty, administrators, and business partners was appreciated and rewarded. In 2013, everything began to change and the above qualities in associates no longer mattered, and folks began to get laid-off...it was heartbreaking for me, so I retired in 2015...I am one of the fortunate ones. My advice to current Follett associates is to do all you can to change industries...due to Follett being in a declining industry, the working conditions wil only get worse.

It was a noble act for this regional manager to retire rather than partake in treating good employees poorly. However, most regional managers are still working and willing to treat employees poorly and inflict damage on associates so they continue to collect pay checks.

Or move to the ivory tower at the home office. They have hired several directors, vp's and svp's since April. Nice!
